A great turnout of ten drivers converged on FRC for our Slot.It Challenge (SC) and Mixed GT (MGT) class competition, amongst them two FRC and digital first-timers, Ron and Shiv. As there were just five SC entries, we ran three races instead of the usual five and did these before the "main event", MGT. Because of the number of entries, this was split into sub-groups A and B comprising five drivers each, based on qualifying times.
Luke B took pole in SC, then we selected a Lambo for everyone to qualify with in MGT by roll of a dice. Luke narrowly got pole again in MGTA (by 12-hundredths of a second!), while Jon was the quickest MGTB qualifier.
In the SC races, both Luke and I each got a win and a second place in the first two races, so the third race was the championship decider. When Luke was held up by a race incident, allowing me to pass him, it looked like I would take the win, then the same happened to me in the closing laps dropping me back to second in the end.
As always, the MGT races were very interesting since each driver's choice of car for each race could mask the overall points being accumulated. In MGTB, Jonathan, Jon, Ron and Ramesh all had wins. The story was somewhat similar in MGTA, the race winners including Luke B, Luke, Steve and I. It was only when the computer crunched the numbers were the final championship winners confirmed.
