RACE REPORT #110 - SEPTEMBER 25TH 2012

OK Guys. I'm changing the format of our race reports from this one on. Instead of my blabbing on its your chance to describe your experience/perspective of the event. The statistics are listed as usual, however I'll let your comments below portray things for everyone, especially those who did not attend.

The results

Congratulations to the winners.

Next event's classes: American Muscle - 3 races @ 40 laps, GT - 3 races @ 40 laps, LMP - 3 races @ 40 laps. Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Also of interest are the updated class average qualifying times.

See you on the circuit...

Hello All ~ The FRC night was good as normal "liming" with the guys but from my racing results - I left FRC tired, battered & literally licking my mental wounds.

Also noticed, all of a sudden there's a new kind of F1 "debate" race in the air @ FRC ~ Stock FF 18K motors vs F130 'Slot It" 21K motors...

I have seen the stock 18K FF motor RPM's at (cant remember atm) some site, can range as much as 21K rpm... This could be one of the reasons why they are so fast.

The average times they do @ FRC (can be faster) 5.540 vs F130 motors (Fastest Ever) 5.103 seconds = 0.437 of a gap and it maybe a big one too...

But ~ For those of you who (dont race as much) also cant remember this - that fast time of 5.103 seconds set by Dougie so long ago was with a ScaleAuto F130 Blue 20K rpm "BB" Motor ~ It was also band in FRC's F1 class not to long after. Plus guess who was the mechanic/builder for Dougie's F1 car at the time :?: :o

Big deal now (ent you know who you are) for some people, who dont race as much to make an issue out of the Slot It "F130" 21K motor time of 5.175 seconds set in this F1 race by :) yours truly ;)

I racing at FRC for so long now - took, gave & taking, giving more licks now - so if you cant take/eat your licks like a man = should only race with group B class times

The strange thing though - the results of my three F1 races (DNF, DNS & LAST) still had people "beating up dey body" afterwards

Not you eh GG :D

Word...

Great night of racing at FRC. Nice to see some 'old' faces such as Nick , Boo and Kyle. Still waiting to see the likes of O'Brie and Dougie again, and wishing Mike Lazzari a speedy recuperation so he could race those new cars.
Well done as usual Gordon, for getting the results out so promptly. I'm waiting to see if anyone takes up the challenge of reporting (other than the actual results) on the night's proceedings. I think that Gordon has some sort of journalistic skill which not many, if any, other FRC members have.
The closeness of the racing is borne out by the overall results which show Gordon winning by a close 3 points over Nicholas. Congrats on your victory Gordon ! Well done on your return Nick. I think I fared okay, with my Mustang GT 350 winning the Mod.Prod. class overall. Too bad my # 4 Gallardo gave problems in the final leg of the Lambo Series, especially as from all accounts, this was the 'best' of the Lambos. In F1, I was actually quite pleased to actually get my Renault R25 down to under 6 seconds in qualifying , but in the end it was still only good enough for 7th place , forcing me to sit out the first race.
As usual, reliability was an issue for some, with Luke having a problem with his fast F1 Williams in the first race and Boo at one point also appearing to have some sort of chip problem with his F1 Ferrari . He apparently got it sorted out after getting vexed with it and hitting it a blow. Boo's chips appear to like this treatment as his Mod.Prod. Impreza also seemed to be 'acting up' until it crashed quite heavily in testing after which it appeared to run better !
Look forward to the next event.
