FTC regulation amendment proposal

Post by gordon »

Guys,

Here are the Ferrari Team Challenge regulations with one modification which I would like to suggest (shown in red):

FRC FERRARI TEAM CHALLENGE REGULATIONS

General:
All regular FRC rules apply except where contradicted by any of the following special rules.

Qualifying:
Drivers shall draw for their qualifying car, breaking qualifying into groups if over six drivers are present. Qualifying will then take place in two minute group sessions.

Car/Team Selection:
Teams will be selected based on the following, using the results of qualifying:
  • 1st and 4th (cars 1 and 2)
  • 2nd and 5th (cars 3 and 4)
  • 3rd and 6th (cars 5 and 6)
If we have more than 6 drivers, the extras will be teamed like this:
  • 7 drivers: 7 joins 3rd-6th
  • 8 drivers: 7 joins 2nd-5th, 8 joins 3rd-6th
  • 9 drivers: 7 joins 1st-4th, 8 joins 2nd-5th, 9 joins 3rd-6th
Chassis Selection:
To randomise the actual chassis associated with each driver station and car body, each chassis shall be numbered (1 to 6) and the six drivers for the first race will draw for their chassis. Bodies will be switched to the respective chassis if necessary. These selections will hold for the duration of the event.

Grid Positions:
For the first race, cars will be gridded based on their drivers' qualifying times. Thereafter, cars will be gridded based on their finishing positions in the previous race.

Driver Stations:
Drivers will use driving stations matching the numbers on their cars.

Third Driver Substitutions:
For teams with a third driver, the fastest two qualifiers will start the first race. For each race thereafter, the lowest-placed driver on the team in the previous race will step out and the stand-by driver will take his place for the next race.

Under-subscribed Grid:
If there are fewer than six drivers, racing will revert to standard format without teams.

Gordon that sounds fine to me. Your previously mentioned idea of switching chassis after each race sounded like a little bit too much work.

Gordon,

I noticed in a recent post you together Luke and others worked on the Porsche. If you did get them working well and evenly balanced I believe this is best option with the Farrari cars. It will take more time to have the cars balanced, but it will make your life easier by having the cars evenly matched. Rather than having chassis and bodies mixed or choosen. If all the cars are evenly matched like the Porsche's they should run evenly matched.

This is just a suggestion since it will eliminate someone getting a car that is not as compettive as the others.
Did you guys test the Porsche cars to see how they perform?
