Hi Guys,
Soon after O'Brie joined me to prepare the track for the event, dark clouds threatened the twilight sky. Not long after we started testing a few cars, the wind began to blow and the sky opened up, necessitating that we raise the track back to the ceiling to prevent it from getting wet. It was around then that I got a few calls asking whether racing would be happening and as things were looking so bleak, I couldn't give a positive answer.
No doubt the weather played a part in only six drivers turning up for the evening. On top of that, some did not have cars for all the planned classes so, between this and some attrition, the racing was relatively toned down. In the end five American Muscle, four GT and five LMP cars ran in total, some of which did not complete their first race. Because of the delay with the rain and the small turnout we agreed to cancel qualifying and simply started from the positions the cars' controllers were set to.
Nonetheless, for those races that were run, O'Brie was the dominant driver, winning all three AM races and the sole LMP race run. Only my GT Ferrari brought a different winner to the event, with Aaron challenging in his souped-up Corvette which had started to run very quick indeed.
Despite the down-beat event, Luke, Steve, Aaron and I sat around having a few beers and chatting about things FRC and slot racing till we eventually called it a night around midnight.
Congratulations to the winners.
Next event's classes: Ferrari Team Challenge - 6 races @ 30 laps, Modified Production - 3 races @ 30 laps (270 total laps for all classes). The FTC class introduces a new concept at FRC - team racing. Don't miss it and don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars. Also of interest are the updated class average qualifying times.
See you on the circuit...
