Race report #68 - Thursday 24th February, 2011

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

We saw a new contender joining the other FRC regulars last night. Alex brought along his cousin Shaun who got his initiation to digital racing driving in GT and LMP. There were nine drivers present with exactly six entries each in American Muscle (AM) and GT, and nine in LMP, which was split into LMP-A and LMP-B sub-groups.

As is often the case with these high-powered, strong-magnet classes, drivers experienced a lot of performance degradation whenever there were several cars on the track in close proximity of one another, particularly in the AM and LMP races. Nonetheless, Dougie was at the top of the field in AM, winning the class convincingly with his Camaro. He also dominated the LMP-B races with his slower-than-usual Ferrari P4. My Scaley Ferrari F430 was quickest in GT although Nicholas' last-minute substitution of his Slot.It Ferrari F40 to replace his slower Ninco Ferrari 360, as well as Alex's quick Scaley Porsche 997, made for some really close GT racing.

LMP-A was all about fast Porsches with Luke taking some well-deserved wins and the class championship for the night in his Slot.It 962. Also very quick were Alex and Nicholas in 956s and Laird's similar car was no slouch either. My poor Riley Ford felt seriously outnumbered by the Porsches, but it did manage to pick up two thirds and a fourth. Kyle and Boo had mixed results in their various races and Shaun did not run badly while in the slot, but he struggled to keep the cars there.

Another night of fun and action at FRC ended minutes before midnight. Before leaving, everyone agreed that racing next week was not practical because of the Carnival parties, so racing will resume the Thursday after Carnival.
