J-Trak

Post by gordon »

This is J-Trak, an interesting system developed to quickly and easily deploy Scalextric tracks using modules.

From their website:
The aim is to create a system of modular tables which can be rearranged to make different Scalextric layouts, and can be transported, stacked, stored and set up fairly easily.
The pic above shows just one of an infinite number of possible layouts because each 140cm x 105cm (55in x 41in) table has a very large variety of track configurations which make it possible to have endless complete layouts.

I know that O'Brie in particular will be interested in the actual hardware involved, especially the design of the tables.

Check out their website. where you can find lots more info. Make sure you click all the links:

Nice idea. If I could find a safe place to store the sections then I could try a small test track...hummm? :?

This would be particularly useful for a rally event whereby the modules could be re-arranged between stages so that each stage could be different. That would probably mean an event dedicated to rally class however. Not a bad thing.

The J-Trak system would be great for a rally event. At FRC, it wouldn't be a bad idea to select the rally format for a special event in the future, even for other classes with magnets (in other words a timed event, one car at a time over a given number of laps). In fact, for another challenge, we could do one series of timed runs where everyone drives the same car, most likely one of the IROC cars.
