Thoughts on getting our events finished at a reasonable time

Post by gordon »

As O'Brie suggested in a comment below the last race report, I'm posting this for us to put our heads together for ideas to get through our events quicker without reducing the number of races. Here are my first thoughts.

We know that it's difficult for those coming from far to get to the track much earlier than currently holds, so rather than waiting for everyone to arrive, we can start the scrutineering for those who are present at a specific time, say 8:30. When the others arrive, they can get some practice and testing time (e.g. 20 minutes), then have their cars scrutineered. At that point we can roll the dice and start qualifying for the first class. From there on, we just try to keep things going for each race and class, with maybe a five minute break between classes.

Here are some sample times:

7:30 - 8:30: Free practice
8:30 - 8:45: Scrutineering the cars that are present
8:45 - 9:05: Free practice for those who come from out of town
9:05 - 9:15: Scrutineering the out of town cars
9:15 - 9:30: Roll dice and qualify first class
9:30 - 9:45: Run the three races for first class
9:45 - 9:50: Break
9:50 - 10:00: Qualify second class
10:00 - 10:15: Run the three races for second class
10:15 - 10:20: Break
10:20 - 10:30: Qualify third class
10:30 - 10:45: Run the three races for third class
10:45 - 11:00: Last break
11:00 - 11:15: Pack up track, tables, etc.

This is an example of how things can be done. In some cases, certain areas may take more time and others less time. The main thing is to try to stick to a schedule and don't let time run away from us.

Now let's hear your thoughts.
