Interesting suggestions Luke. Of course with this setup, sidewinder cars will always have an advantage, so my Ninco Mini for example - which has an inline long-can motor - will definitely not be competitive. Also, if we go for any magnet setup (as long as the car does not stick to the track upside down) we need to do the same for RGT.

What's so hard about finding the centre-line of the car and placing a magnet ahead of it?

Nothing is difficult about it at all GG ...

I also, did think about SW having an advantage over the IL motors (being the) FC-130 but with the FK-180 type 'long can' motors ~ its a whole different ball game ... especially if its an inline.

I remember your neat looking & fast handling Ninco Mini for a long time now but understanding it may not be that competitive because its known certain type cars may not be as strong (fast) anymore when we see best lap times falling with other type cars.

Now mind you GG, hope you don't get the feeling I'm not okay with your (magnet centre-line) suggestion but just wanted to get my suggestion out here as you requested to help with an overall solution.

Mod Prod being a modified class - I just found the process of arranging magnets on a chassis ahead of the motor and try to not have the car stuck to a upside down track piece is (somewhat) like what it was, trying to set up the Slotit chips/25K rpm vs Scalextric F1 chips/30K rpm motors.

For all you know, some one of us (RCBoys) could very well balance magnets on a IL motor/chassis to handle better than a SW motor/chassis :)

At the same time - thanks for valuing my point.

GG,

Could I also recommend with the Modified Production class ~ the motor be 23.500K rpm (instead of 23K only) or lower, based on manufacturer's specifications ...

I see no problem with 23.5K motors in MP.

That's GR8 ... GG,

This means ...

If the NINCO model "FK-180 ~ long can motor" (be it IL or AW) chassis set-ups are used.

These are the motors of choice:
  • The NC-6 80611 "CRUSHER" or NC-12 80616 "CRUSHER+"
They are both 23.5K rpm ~ in addition they are yellow & orange labels respectively.

Guys,

We need to finalize the 2015 class regulations. Please let's have your comments/suggestions here ASAP. I would like to have this done by this Friday (January 9th) if possible as I would like to propose that our first event for 2015 be held the following Thursday (January 15th).

If you believe we should have a meeting for this, it can be done this coming Thursday.

Remember, we can always try the suggestions and then make any changes that we deem necessary if anything is way out of whack.

Hi Gordon,
I'm fine with the proposed changes, as well as with Luke's suggestion of 23.5k motor (instead of 23k) for MP.
The quicker we can get back to racing, the better !

Hey Arden & Steve - for awhile I thought it was only me (and of course GG) using the forum for the new year :( :D

Must say Arden's recommendation (MGT and Discuss/Class Regs) sounds very hands-on for a season opener.

Also - Steve should remember this

A list of the 6 events done and the winners for the most competitive, strategic & entertaining FRC style of slotcar racing.

  • 1. Race Report No. 124 - MGT ................. 25/4/2013 ........ Steve
    2. Race Report No. 152 - MGT/Teams ....... 30/12/2013 ...... Nicholas E. and Keith Aqui
    3. Race Report No. 153 - MGT ................. 16/1/2014 ........ Gordon
    4. Race Report No. 160 - MGT ................. 27/3/2014 ........ Luke B.
    5. Race Report No. 168 - MGT ................. 26/6/2014 ........ Ramesh/Luke B.
    6. Race Report No. 175 - MGT ................. 28/8/2014 ........ Luke B.

    7. Race Report No. 183 - MGT ................. TBA .......

Hopefully a new Winner will emerge in January 2015 ;)

BTW GG,

Recommend with the Mod Prod class - the motor be 23.5K rpm (instead of 23K only) or lower, based on manufacturer's specs ... which you see no problem with.

Yet, it seems you forgot to post it this way (in blue) with the FRC Classes 2015 regs.

I believe (thinking now) it could be recommended with the RGT class as well and for the simple reason with the FK-180 motor set-up ...

For example: the Ninco BMW M3 GTR Angle Winder (long can motor) chassis.
