RACE REPORT #319 - May 30th 2024 (KBnm, VSGTnm, VSPRnm)
We had a nice turnout of drivers for our 319th race event, a total of eight drivers competing for honors on the challenging FRC track. We also had another top class improvement with the introduction of six wonderful new TruSpeed digital controllers courtesy Peter. I have to give kudos and much thanks to Peter for where he has taken and continues to take FRC to. The controllers themselves are super smooth to operate and include a great feature where you can adjust how they respond to any car you are driving while driving it! Its a big improvement over the troublesome and short-lasting Scalextric controllers we've used over the fifteen years of racing at FRC.
Classes raced were Kitbash, Vintage Sports GT and Vintage Sports Prototype, with two races run for each. As always, the racing was close, with the usual dicing and the SSDC software worked well throughout. We also have a rare result where the same driver won both the Champion Driver and Index of Performance awards. I think we should come up with a title for this achievement, so lets have your ideas for one in the comments below.
By the end of the event, everyone had had a full afternoon of track time, racing and camaraderie we always look forward to.
Here are the usual pics to start things off.

Thanks for the race report G! That was quite a wonderful improvement with the controllers. Thanks Peter and co for getting them. Congrats to Ian for a well raced championship. Your cars ran well and it has put everyone back in their skunk works department to come up with an answer!

Beautiful report again Gordon, with FRC's 6 NEW Style Controllers & with me being a SSD racing competitor since RD001 ...
It's always a pleasure to be part of (ever since) with all projects and took me some time to attain - after 121 race days ...
Winning my first FRC‘s Champion Driver of Events ... RD122 Luke
The last person to achieve such - after 13 race days ... RD135 Ramesh
The next person - after 184 race days and sure, it's a thrill for all to see a brand-new individual name ... RD319 Ian G
Interestingly with your real 1:1 racing number ... 33 points
Big Congrats to Ian ...
... because he've been knocking hard - https://frcforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6& ... 07946f4b40 - from as early as RD311 / July 2023
It is such a coincidence as well ... with the same 3 classes (KB, VSGT & VSPT) plus at final event for the change of a new venue
For reference sake ...
Ian is the 17th FRC person to accomplish Champion Driver of Event:

Hey Luke, what’s the number at the end of each line in your Champion Driver list?
Re: RACE REPORT #319 - May 30th 2024 (KBnm, VSGTnm, VSPRnm)
Great time as usual at FRC.
A good driver turnout and six new TruSpeed hand controllers made for some great racing. It's always nice to see drivers bringing their own new cars to race and this meeting didn't disappoint, what with Peter and his VS-P Lola T70 Mk3 and Ian with his VS-P and VS-GT Ford GT40 and DeTomaso Pantera respectively. All lovely machines !!
The racing was close and exciting in all classes, so much so that in VS-GT, the class win was determined by the extra point for a second race change of car !
Congrats to Ian and Gordon on winning Kitbash and VS-P respectively and to Ian on taking the event's overall win as well as the Index Of Performance accolades.
Looking forward to the next event !
Steve

My suggestion for the title of the achievement of winning winning both the Champion Driver and Index of Performance at a single event:
“Tour de Force Award”
Let’s hear your suggestions.

You Gordon & being the owner of the FRC SSD Circuit plus King of the Hill
It's the amount of times Champion Driver was Won out of 319 Events ...
You have also TIED a number of times (at certain events plus others) with .5 points and because you've done so, with equal amounts ...
It rounded off your Grand 93 total
Hopefully you're AOK with my produced list
