RACE REPORT #315 - Mar 2nd 2024 (KBnm, VSGTnm, VSPRnm)
With nine drivers present, we had another good turnout for our first Kitbash, Vintage Sports GT and Vintage Sports Prototype event of the year. Peter unfortunately was feeling a bit under the weather and didn't take part in the racing. We welcomed FRC newcomer Mark Kurbanali, who participated in the first practice session, qualifying session and first race - all for our Kitbash class - before having to leave for another engagement. Because of limiting the free practice time which often takes up most of the event, were able to run two races for each class, making it a total of six races, along with the three practice and qualifying sessions. The computer system worked virtually flawlessly, there being only one occasion where it faltered, which was fixed by powering off the Powerbase and restarting the SSDC software.
On the less positive side, I forgot to take grid pictures for the second VSGT and worse, somehow missed taking the all-important picture of the VSPR qualifying results. Because of the latter, I substituted times of 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 seconds in order to get the correct qualifying sequence of the cars, yet not have any times be close to actual lap times. I think I need a bit more help at our events.
Nonetheless, it was a really great afternoon of racing and the usual socialising and camaraderie that we always look forward to.
Here are a few pics to start things off:
There were three beautiful RevoSlot cars on display, one that Steve has had for a while and two brand new, unchipped ones.
Ian's Datsun, followed by O'Brie's Opel Kadett and Steve's BMW:

What fun we had! Thanks guys sorry that Peter was under the weather and didn’t participate until late in the evening and then only for a chat! Thanks though for being our host in absentia! love our “blue zone”!

Great evening as usual of racing at FRC. The driver turnout was pretty good and it is encouraging to see new drivers turn up to race now, with them hopefully to return after enjoying their experience. Sorry that Liam wasn't able to make it and that Peter didn't feel up to it as he wasn't feeling well. Jonathan showed up for a short while and while he didn't race, did some laps with a few of my cars and his times were pretty decent. Maybe he could be encouraged to come and do some racing.
What a treat it was to see two new RevoSlot cars appear ! O'Brie's Opel Kadett and Ian's Datsun 510 are both stunners, I'd really like to see them chipped and do a few laps with them with my RevoSlot BMW 2002 which I've already chipped.
The racing was exciting in all classes and VERY close in some cases. I was very surprised to see that fastest race time in Kitbash was recorded by Warren driving my popsicle stick chassis Chevy Lumina ! Now that I see its potential I should pay it some attention ! Great that the track and computer system didn't give any trouble but I still wonder why at times the track feels very slow in some sections but then sorts itself out.
Congrats to Gordon and O'Brie on their joint Vintage Sports Prototype victory and to O'Brie on taking Index Of Performance honours.
Looking forward to the next event !
PS: Gordon, although I have a few 911s the yellow Porsche 911S driven by Ian in Kitbash is not mine.

Steve, big congrats to you on taking the overall Champion Driver crown. Those extra points gained by running different cars in the second series of races definitely made a difference, as it did for others too, but you managed one for each class! O'Brie, you too did very well and came close to tying with Steve for Champion Driver, so well done!
I have to put on a second thinking cap when working on my cars for the next event.

Fantastic FRC Racing Report & Wonderful Pictures
... and after 14+ years on my way to this FRC meet (mind you was a bit late) always have to remind myself it's The Villas at Haleland Park / Peter's Homey Home and not at original Fairways Maraval / Gordon's Welcoming Home
All in all & for all those years ... always a pleasure to be present at FRC (with or without any personal cars) and this being the 5th. event for 2024 - was present at 4 out of the 5 events this far
At this event ... arrived just in time to see the Kit Bash racing taking place and didn't get to partake ... because there was a full grid of 6 drivers.
Further to - with one of the 6 drivers being a new person at FRC and a good longtime friend Mark K. who I haven't seen (sorry to say) for the past 6 years
Needless to say - it was a pleasure for us both to recognize each other after all those years
Now about the racing with ah 9 out of 10 score ...
I'm always sponsored a car by Gordon and sometimes by others which so happened (a chance with) 2 of Ramesh's cars
Here's a personal study of my results in these 2 classes:
