Luke asked me what I had planned for FRC's 100th event and I realised we should not let this milestone go by without doing something special. This thread is for everyone to give their suggestions as to:
What type of event we should have.
When we should have it (day of week).
So post your ideas below. My initial thoughts are that we should have our long-overdue second endurance event (details to come if we decide to go this way) and maybe we should have it on a day when there's no work the following day .
I was regrettably not present for FRC's 1st. Endurance (#33) Racing Event on Mon.28th. December, 2009 and know you have talked about having a second type event after all this time. This (FRC'S 100th. Racing) milestone event is a great time to host this type of race and on the day, when there is no work the following day is a but the next public holiday is (Wednesday 30th.May) about 6 weeks away... There is only one more FRC event (LS & VS Classes) to have before the (AM,GT & LMP Classes) 100th. event so how about you divide these 2 events into the 6 weeks and have the time to finalize preparing things/race night (exactly 2 years and 5 months) on Tuesday 29th.May, 2012

I've been putting more thought to this upcoming 100th event. Here's my list of ideas so far, in no particular order:
Endurance event with three classes - Vintage Sports (just as is held at Le Mans each year) - 20 minutes duration, Restricted GT (for GT endurance class) - 40 minutes duration and Slot.It Challenge (for LMP endurance class) - 40 minutes duration.
Should be held on either a holiday/Saturday, but most preferably on a day with no work the following day.
We should cook something either before starting racing or in-between classes.
The usual endurance regulations should apply (except where contravened here, eg. 20 and 40 minutes per race instead of 30 minutes).
I'd like to have 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes for each race, so we need sponsors/donations. I already have some thoughts on prizes ranging from US$40 downwards. Since there will be two drivers per car, we need two of each prize (six each of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes).
A concours prize for the best turned out car, judged before racing begins. The car must be an entry in one of the classes.
The SSDC race management software will be in effect to help everyone keep abreast of positions and time.
Because of the need for at least 12 drivers, this one really needs some sort of entry form for confirmation.
What are your thoughts about these points? (You can refer to the letters preceding each when commenting.)
Gordon I could have phoned you to talk about this post reply but I am using the forum as you suggested to the fullest
You have some grand posts for FRC's Endurance (No.100 Event) Race but how come you not saying anything about or when FRC having its (Exciting LS & VS Classes) No.99 Event

Luke
Luke, I asked the guys (by phone text) to let me know when they want to race next and no one has responded, so its up to you and them to let me know when you want to race next (the 99th event).
Maybe you should start a new forum topic posing this question.
So sorry but at the time I took that tex (when you race next) and the one before (racing cancelled) to mean event No.98... which did play-off after all, on the same night.
Kind of know you have plenty to do in your circle of life ~ so why not use your FRC forum Tuesday "full proof routine" Pole instead of me posting a new topic.
I'm just a little peeved. Preparing for an FRC event takes considerable time and effort on both my and Debbie's part, so when few turn up its a bit of a disappointment for me.
Based on your suggestion, I've set up a poll here for interested parties to take part in. We can let this be a guide for planning event # 99.
I fully understand what you are saying. We also have the same problem with attendance. Sometimes I ask myself if it is worth it? I do believe that most of your racers do appreciate your effort in providing a home for their sport. I believe the poll on the forum should be effective and the deadline for responses should be by Wednesday lunchtime ie giving everyone ample notice to prepare their machines.
What I have realize is that we need more presons involved in the sport in order to take it to another level or consistant racing every week.
I will try to support FRC in whatever way I can, however it does take some effort in order to make it possible every THursday.
