RACE REPORT #307 - Mar 18th 2023 (TBRDnm)
Re: RACE REPORT #307 - Mar 18th 2023 (TBRDnm)
Did a bit of research ... and decided to keep things real simple - Scalextric C8515 Digital Plug in Chip is the way to go
Re: RACE REPORT #307 - Mar 18th 2023 (TBRDnm)
I think if the chip is going to be used only in Scalextric DPR cars, then the Scalextric chip would be fine. If there's a chance you want to at some time use the chip in any other kind of car, go with the Slot.it.
Re: RACE REPORT #307 - Mar 18th 2023 (TBRDnm)
Your thinking sounds very reasonable Steve ...
However, how I decided to go with the Scalextric C8515 Digital Chip & believe (if I was to use) with any other brand car, the C7005 Digital conversion style - https://www.electricdreams.com/Shop/par ... -1836.html - at $25US would be a good option. Now even though the Slot.it SP15C (new version) Chip looks Super Cool ... noticed one will need to get the SP45 Connectors in order to have things working, which will now add up to $40US (by itself) in total and is almost the price of a slot-car.
Yes, being competitive in the 1:1 racing world is so ... but surely looks like it's the same $$$ in 1:32 racing arena
I will end off with a positive & an encouraging note - The FRC's new TBR event is really a great and inexpensive way to get involved in Digital Racing
Here's a perfect example with 2 of my Scalextric (OTB) models:

Looks like you thought it through Luke what you wrote makes sense for the TBR racing. Look forward to seeing you and your cars at the next one!

I sure did Gordon and it wasn't all that difficult (probably) because of my Digital years at FRC ...
Another point I would like to add - why I didn't go with the Slot.it SP15C Digital Chip plus SP45 Connectors, believe they're (other than a conversion) best used for/in the Slot.it Model Cars ... which I don't happen to have with list of models.
