Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (4th July) for our Group B classes - Rally Car (RC), Slot.It Challenge (SC), Formula 1 (F1).

Here's the schedule:

Key points to pass tech inspection:
  • Rally Car - If visible, interior must have both driver and navigator figures (heads minimum); no traction magnets; "Magnet-effect" motors are not allowed.
  • Slot.It Challenge - Group C Slot.It cars only; single standard Slot.It "non-race" magnet (the one with the grooves); Slot.It tyres.
  • Formula 1 - F1 or F1-type body (must be painted - no unpainted bodies allowed); 63mm maximum width; any motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule - magnets must be positioned at least 5.5mm ahead of rear axle; wheels 14mm max diameter without tyres; tyres at least 18mm diameter; rear tyres at least 11mm wide.
  • All cars - must have racing numbers displayed at least on each side. Owners are encouraged to include other realistic-looking decoration on their cars, such as sponsor advertising and number roundels.
  • All classes that stipulate the USD rule - Cars must drop away from a C7016 Scalextric Single Lane Half-straight 175mm that is held still (no shaking) in an upside-down position. Any weight added to the car must be positioned within 2.5" (64mm) and ahead of the rear axle.
You can see the 2019 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Will be there for sure. Will be interesting to see the Scratch Built cars qualify.
Sweet photos by the way. Love the Hyundai i20 in the top photo and the Ferrari ahead of the Red Bull in the bottom one.
