Racing this Thursday 6th Jun (HS, APC, VS6075)

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (6th June) for our Group A classes - Historic Saloon (HS), American Pony Car (APC) and Vintage Sports '60-'75 (VS6075). Now that we're seeing more Scratch Built Class cars appearing, I've moved this race to start of the event because we were often running out of time for it.

Here's the schedule:

Key points to pass tech inspection:
  • Historic Saloon - Motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule. All magnets must be positioned ahead of centreline of the distance between guide flag pivot point and rear axle; Angle-winder pods are prohibited; Body width may not exceed 60 mm; Standard wheels, or they may be substituted, but must be as close as possible to standard diameter (excluding ridge). Wheels or inserts that match or are close to original wheel design are required.
  • American Pony Car - Motor up to 21,500 RPM; USD rule. All magnets must be positioned ahead of centreline of the distance between guide flag pivot point and rear axle; Wheels must be either 12mm or 13mm in diameter (excluding the ridge); Wheels or inserts that match or are close to original wheel design are required.; Front tyre minimum diameter: 17mm on wheel. Rear tyre minimum diameter: 19mm on wheel. 8mm maximum tyre width.
  • Vintage Sports '60-'75 GT - Motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule. Magnets must be positioned within 40 mm and forward of the rear axle (this is the forward magnet position on a Slot.It motor pod); Any chassis is allowed. Wheel inserts that match or are close to original wheel design are required. 90gm minimum weight (up to 3gm under allowance).
  • Vintage Sports '60-'75 Prototype - Motor up to 22,500 RPM; USD rule. Magnets must be positioned within 40 mm and forward of the rear axle (this is the forward magnet position on a Slot.It motor pod); Any chassis is allowed. Wheel inserts that match or are close to original wheel design are required. 77gm minimum weight (up to 3gm under allowance).
  • All cars - must have racing numbers displayed at least on each side. Owners are encouraged to include other realistic-looking decoration on their cars, such as sponsor advertising and number roundels.
  • All classes that stipulate the USD rule - Cars must drop away from a C7016 Scalextric Single Lane Half-straight 175mm that is held still (no shaking) in an upside-down position. Any weight added to the car must be positioned within 2.5" (64mm) and ahead of the rear axle.
You can see the 2019 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Will be there for sure.
Really like the top photo, with the Datsun 510 (Datsun 1600 to us) being followed by a Datsun 710.

G. Do we need Quli for Scratch built? Time may be the factor here as that is a lot of racing!
