New Zakspeed Capri from Racer

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

Check out this sweet upcoming Zakspeed Capri from Racer:

Image

It's one of their new Sideways releases for 2012 and therefore will be affordable. As usual with Racer, it uses Slot.It hardware so the quality is guaranteed.

What class will this qualify for at FRC?

Not sure what class would be right for this car. A Capri, I think, could be raced in Historic Saloon (although technically a Capri was a coupe) as they were raced against the likes of Escorts, Minis, Vivas, Firenzas, MGBs,Rover SD1s, Triumph Dolomites et al in their day. This particular slot car however, with its Slot.It running gear will surely be in a different category, performance -wise ,from the current crop of HS cars. Maybe HS should have limits, say motors of max. 19,500 rpm (may allow other than Scalextric cars) or tyres no wider than ------ mm. etc. Maybe what the Capri needs is to be siliconed and put in Modified Production.

LOL!

Looking at the class rules, nearest class I can see it fitting into is Modified Production.
