RACE REPORT #268 - Mar 28th 2019 (MP, RGT, RLMP)
Although we got going a bit late, this didn't take away from the night's racing for our fastest cars, which was one of the most action-filled we've had in a long time. We had a total of seven drivers present, however O'Brie unfortunately left before racing started as he was feeling somewhat under the weather.
Qualifying saw Luke B set a Restricted GT (RGT) all-time fastest lap of 4.503 sec with his brand-new Ramesh-prepared Honda HSV and was doing similar times in practice with a tiny Modified Production (MP) Peugeot 208. He also got his Restricted LMP (RLMP) car down to mid-4.5 sec times.
We ran two 60-lap races each for MP and RGT and a single 60-lapper for RLMP as we were running pretty late by then. It was great to have Peter take part in all the races for a change and clearly enjoying himself, as we all did. Anthony too was in attendance, driving in RGT and RLMP and also tested his improving Honda rally car.
The results
Modified Production starting grid - Ramesh's Opel Calibra on pole followed by Luke B's Peugeot 208, my Zakspeed Capri, Steve's BMW 320i and Peter's Zakspeed Escort:
Crash between two Zakspeed machines exiting Fosters - Peter's Escort up on the railing and my Capri with its rear wing gone, while Steve's white BMW avoids the collision:
Ramesh's Calibra heads up the hill towards Bridgestone, while on the infield Steve's BMW leads my Zakspeed Capri:
Luke B's quick Peugeot 208 exits Fosters as Peter's Zakspeed Escort enters:
Restricted GT starting grid - Luke B on pole with his extremely fast Honda HSV, followed by Ramesh's TVR Speed 12, Steve's Audi R8 GT3, my Viper, Peter's Ford GTE and my Porsche 911R driven by Anthony:
There was action aplenty in Restricted GT, as the following pictures show.
All six cars in the race are visible, as my Viper runs head-to-head with Ramesh's TVR, closely followed by Steve's Audi and Peter's Ford GTE, with Anthony's Porsche a little way back, while Luke B's super-fast Honda is two-thirds of a lap ahead, climbing the hill towards Bridgestone:
Steve's Audi leads my Viper and Anthony's Porsche through the esses and up the hill:
More action with Ramesh's TVR and Anthony's Porsche entering Bridgestone side-by-side while Steve's Audi crashes into the barrier as my Viper goes past:
Three stages of Fosters corner with Peter's Ford GTE on entry, Ramesh's TVR midway through and Luke B's Honda on the exit:
Yet more action at Fosters as Peter's Ford is t-boned by Anthony's Porsche and Luke B manages to stop before hitting them:
Peter's Ford turns turtle just behind Ramesh's TVR, my Viper goes through the Caiman Pond hairpin, Steve's Audi copies the Ford, while Anthony's Porsche enters Bridgestone in the background:
Its neck and neck around Fosters as my Viper and Luke B's Honda do battle:
My Viper slides but stays in the slot as it accelerates through the hairpin:
Restricted LMP starting grid - Luke B's pole-sitting Mazda 787 about to lead off Ramesh's similar car, my Toyota 88C, Steve's Lola B09/60, Ramesh's Riley driven by Anthony and Peter's Peugeot 908 HDi FAP:

Great night of racing as usual at FRC.
Despite the late-ish start, it turned out to be a night of good racing. It is always nice to see new machinery at FRC and we saw some lovely examples at this event. It was nice to see Peter show up and stay to take part in all the races. Nice also to see Anthony show up to get in a few races and also to get some track time with his lovely Honda Civic. It was really a pity that O'Brie had to leave when he did but this was understandable.
Congrats to Luke B. on winning all classes raced and, naturally, taking the night's overall win.
Congrats also to Peter, Gordon and Luke B. on taking joint Index Of Performance honours.
Looking forward to the next event.
