RACE REPORT #262 - November 8th 2018 (MP, RGT, RLMP)

Our final regular event for 2018 saw a small group of six drivers compete in our fastest classes, Modified Production, Restricted GT and Restricted LMP. A good mix of cars were represented across all classes and competition was fast and exciting. At one point during the night, all six cars completed eighteen consecutive laps of the narrow 2-lane FRC track without a single mishap, swapping places wherever an opportunity arose. With eighteen direction changes per lap, that comes up to 1,944 car-direction-changes! It was a high-speed, on-the-edge couple of minutes of intense concentration, with great driving by all drivers. Throughout the night in all the classes there were some nicely timed lane-change overtakes, some of which were incredibly close to being wipeouts, but managed to work anyway.

It goes without saying that all present had a great time and if they're anything like me, can't wait to do it again next time. To top it off, we were able to finish earlier than we have in quite a while.

Great night of racing as usual at FRC. It really was lots of fun despite finishing at the bottom of the group in two of the classes raced and close to the bottom in the other. Nice to see Anthony and David showing up on a fairly frequent basis now. We need to see David doing some racing though ! Congrats to Ram on winning all classes raced and naturally, taking the night's overall award. Congrats also to Gordon on winning Index Of Performance.
Despite the fun on the track, can't help mentioning the sad start to the night when I arrived at FRC and was advised of the passing of Luke's Dad. Condolences to Luke and his family. May Dennis rest in peace.
Looking forward to the next event, whatever it may be.

From the pics above, looking like racing was a blast.

All the same guys, thanks for the personal support (and sorry to shock you all) about my Father passing away so unexpectedly ...

It so happened, I was the last known person to talk to him (that day) before leaving for work ... and interestingly enough. The first thing I remembered (after work) while kneeling next to him, was our last conversation.

Dad was taking a regular catnap after his cup of coffee early in the morning. I walked into his room to say I’m leaving for work. Plus told him the three (daily) News Papers are on the table, two sandwiches for breakfast on kitchen counter and lunch is in the fridge for you. Also if he needed anything in the grocery before leaving the area.

He answered with a normal voice (also noticed no kind of discomfort or pain) and said he’s fine thanks. I even added, call me if he needs anything during the day.

Little did I know that warm conversation was the end.
