Racing this Thursday 8th Nov (MP, RGT, RLMP)

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (8th November) for our Group C classes - Modified Production (MP), Restricted GT (RGT), Restricted LMP (RLMP).

We plan to start at 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes). Cars will be moved to the parc fermé location after they are inspected and comply with the requirements.
  • Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Post-race Technical Inspection (if required).
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
Key points to pass tech inspection:
  • Modified Production - Motors up to 23,500 RPM; no American muscle/pony cars allowed; magnet location restriction if motor exceeds 20,000 RPM; USD rule.
  • Restricted GT - Motors up to 23,500 RPM; USD rule.
  • Restricted LMP - Motors up to 25,000 RPM; USD rule.
  • All classes that stipulate the USD rule - Cars must drop away from the test block with the block held still (no shaking). Any weight added to the car must be positioned within 2.5" (64mm) and ahead of the rear axle.
You can see the 2018 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Hello Gordon,

I’m planning on attending racing this Thursday and noticed FRC’s 2018 Reports are showing this is the 18th Race Day on the 8/11/2018 ... Also when I double checked the amount of times I was present (including this upcoming event) for FRC races ... It will be 10 out of the 18 race days, which isn’t so bad because percentage wise - just over 50% in attendance.

So although you find I’m not fully committed (like I use too) with slotcar racing ...

Records are showing still somewhat lovesome (lukewarm) to 1:32 car racing :-)

Some early morning thoughts,

Luke

Btw under your key points to pass tech inspection notes, shouldn’t the 1.0 mm ground clearance rule be removed because of the USD rule ..?

Hi Gordon especially with these faster classes we will have to pay a bit more attention to the cars that are off the pace , as to avoid unnecessary drive throughs and wrecks.Thanks.

Yes Ram, I would say anyone who is a second or more off the pole time should not qualify to race. Some cars within a second will still be lapped a few times anyway. What do you think?
