Looking ahead with my VSP Ford Mk IV

Post by gordon »

Had some more time on my hands today, so since my cars are ready for the next event, I decided to look ahead to the event after that and see if I could prep a car for the Vintage Sports Prototype class. I decided that I had been neglecting my Ford Mk IV, so thought I'd see what could be done with it.

One of my pet peeves about the way it was set up is that with the sidewinder Slot.It pod, even with zero-hub rear wheels, the rear tyres stick out the fenders about 2mm on each side. Today I fixed this by completely rebuilding the car. It now has an inline pod, different motor, narrower rear track so that the wheels are under the fenders where they belong and a few other changes. Here's a pic from above - no tyres visible:

Come race day, I'll qualify both this car in VSP as well as my Cobra Daytona in VSGT, then decide which car to run. Whatever the case, I enjoyed re-thinking it and look forward to seeing how it runs and further improving it from there.
