Scaley track at Le Mans Classic 2018

Post by gordon »

Scalextric had this great little track set up at the Le Mans Classic event this year:

It would make a nice layout for anyone planning a relatively small home track. Its also easy to add digital components (power base and lane-change track pieces).

Indeed Gordon and (had to ask) if you have the time 8-)

How about some of your SSD magic - posting a track design here :?:

For the sake of having a good guess Gordon ...

This pictured track table is approximately 12’ X 4’ in size :)

Gordon,

Took more time viewing pictured track table and it’s actually 9’ X 4’ in size ;)

Looking at the (Arc Air) Power Base - noticed the slot-cars were placed in the opposite (racing) direction when the photo was taken :)

I noticed it too before posting. Didn't know if anyone else would.

I'll work on the track design as soon as I have a chance.

I’m sure others will probably notice Gordon plus being an Analog Circuit - suppose to be only 2 slotcars :D

Anyway - guess the person (with the camera) wanted the shot to look as exciting as possible, which he (or she) did a great job of ...

Sure you know I took the time to check the track segments and came up with these (40) numbers in total:
  • 20 R2 Curves
    13 Full Straights
    05 Half Straights
    02 Quarter Straights
Even though I may stand corrected - they are not completely correct (by names) because counted the Power Base and Grid Lines as full straights.

That said and when you get the chance designing, could you do the track plan as a Digital Circuit for new friend Kenny ..? Plus here’s a list of the SSD pieces available - which I am sure will fit comfortably on his 12’ X 8’ table.
  • 01 C7042 Digital 6-car Power Base
    02 C7036 Digital Lane-Change Straights
    01 C7007 Digital Lane-Change Curve (Out/In) Left Hander
    01 C7009 Digital Lane-Change Curve (In/Out) Left Hander

I tried working out a design, item number by item number and started with the front straightaway ...
  • 03 C8205 Full Straights
01 C7042 Half Straight SSD Power Base
    03 C8205 Full Straights

    02 C8206 R2 Curves (first corner)

    01 C8207 Half Straight
    01 C7036 Full Lane-changer Straight

    02 C8206 R2 Curves (second corner)
    02 C8205 Full Straights

    05 C8206 R2 Curves (in one direction)
    01 C8206 R2 Curve (in next direction)
    01 C7007 Lane-changer Curve + sensor Half Straight
    01 C7009 Lane-changer Curve + sensor Half Straight
I realized the C7007 & C7009 could only work (some changes needed of course) by the Control Tower in an anti-clockwise direction ... In other words - Left Hand turns and here is where it got a bit complicated :(

Hope my story wasn’t and you can always call whenever 8-)

I will end off here,

Well here's the nearest I can get to the track in the pic. When I tried what was obvious from closely scrutinising the pic, track pieces were overlaying/bouncing into one another in certain places, so I had to make some changes.

Nicely done (Circuit Design) Gordon and in the quickest time possible 8-)

Even though you made some changes, it’s looking like the exact shape.
