Racing this Thursday 12th Jul (RC, SC, F1)

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (12th July) for our 2018 Group B classes - Rally Car (RC), Slot.It Challenge (SC), Formula 1 (F1). We'll run races for our two latest classes, American Pony Car Sportsman (APCS) and GT Sportsman (GTS) for non-regular FRC drivers or we'll run special IROC races if we have at least two new drivers present.

We plan to start at 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes). Cars will be moved to the parc fermé location after they are inspected and comply with the requirements.
  • Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Post-race Technical Inspection (if required).
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
Key points to pass tech inspection:
  • Rally Car - If visible, interior must have both driver and navigator figures (heads minimum); no traction magnets; "Magnet-effect" motors are not allowed.
  • Slot.It Challenge - Group C Slot.It cars only; single standard Slot.It "non-race" magnet (the one with the grooves); Slot.It tyres.
  • Formula 1 - F1 or F1-type body (must be painted - no unpainted bodies allowed); 63mm maximum width; any motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule - magnets must be positioned at least 5.5mm ahead of rear axle; wheels 14mm max diameter without tyres; tyres at least 18mm diameter; rear tyres at least 11mm wide.
  • All classes that stipulate the USD rule - Cars must drop away from a C7016 Scalextric Single Lane Half-straight 175mm that is held still (no shaking) in an upside-down position. Any weight added to the car must be positioned within 2.5" (64mm) and ahead of the rear axle.
You can see the 2018 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Hello Gordon, Ramesh and everyone else,

I plan to be at FRC (Thursday 12th) tonight even though none of my own slotcars are race ready ... It’s known long time now, I’m not into tuning (as much) my own models for competitions anymore other than selling, trading or simply have as shelf quality models. However there’s always something extra (sponsored) at FRC for one to take part in a race or two which (I’m sure) is truly appreciated.

Also, there are some other slotcar matters I have to see about and (could mention onetime) in no particular order listed below with brief explanation.
  • Boo‘s ....... Scalextric C2523 Dodge Viper No.82 “McCann Racing” c/o Gordon
    Ramesh .... Scalextric W9783 Under-pan Chassis for F1 McLaren MP4-21 c/o Luke
Steve ....... Scalextric C7016 Half Straight Single Lane c/o Luke
The Scalextric C2523 Dodge Viper c/o you Gordon ... David (Boo) asked if I can collect for him as it’s not being used .... and the two names (Ramesh & Steve) in c/o me are items they’re interested in.

See you’ll later,

Luke
