Last night's event ran as a fun session

Post by gordon »

Due to a driver turnout of just three (Steve, Ramesh and I), last night's event was run as a fun session. We got to see how the cars we prepared ran and decided to have some fun races amongst the three of us, driving different cars. In fact there was a turnaround of sorts because Ramesh, who usually has prepped cars to lend others, actually drove two of mine! We had a chance to use the new car ID programmer and it worked perfectly, allowing setting of car IDs without interruption of cars running on track.

It was all done very informally and we didn't take things seriously, not even recording results. We also didn't scrutineer the cars or qualify. We just had a little fun. Here are three grid pics:

We started with American Pony Car. Steve drove his Javelin, I'm on row two with my Challenger and Ramesh chose to start at the back with his Camaro. That's three different manufacturers - AMC, Dodge and Chevrolet:

Ramesh's yellow and black Capri (now complete with numbers, roundels and "Bhola's" advertising on the windscreen) sits ahead of my Capri and Steve's Escort Mk II, an all Ford Historic Saloon grid. You can catch a glimpse of the ID programmer on the controller area to the right of Steve's Escort:

In Vintage Sports, Ramesh is in front in my Cobra Daytona, I'm next with my Cobra roadster, followed by Steve's Cheetah:

We also had another Historic Saloon race where Ramesh drove my Alan Mann Escort, I drove my tiny BMC Mini and Steve drove his Aussie Ford Falcon, but I forgot to get a grid picture. In between, we had a few beers and chatted motor racing, both slot and real varieties. We finished early and packed up around 11:30 PM.

Great night of racing at FRC. Although the races were just fun ones, ie. no qualifying was done and results were not recorded, it was good just to be there and drive the cars that we enjoy preparing so much. Although there were only three of us there, there was a lot of ole talk between the races (or vice versa ?).
Looking forward to the next event.
Happy Easter all !!

Hi Gordon,

This coming Thursday (April 12th) and because of circumstances with this event would you be racing the (Group B.) RC, SC & F1 classes or beginning again with the (Group A.) HS, APC & VS6075 classes?

Good morning (and if you wondered why I asked) Gordon,

The last couple days ~ I’m seeing about my slot-car collection plus spare-parts inventory and recently came across my FRC F1 and RC model cars. Sorry to say I don’t have a SC slotcar anymore because remembered (somewhat) selling or even exchanging ... for some other item.

Anyway it’s history and the next couple days I’ll see what slotcar tuning skills I may still carry :-)

Have a great Sunday,

Luke
