Race report #87 - Saturday 1st October, 2011

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

Saturday's racing saw eight drivers competing in the scheduled classes - 40-lap races for American Muscle, GT and LMP. It was great to see the return of Nicholas after months of absence, along with O'Brie for his second official event in a row. And neither of them disappointed, with Nicholas and his cars having lost none of their past speed and O'Brie once again showing up with competitive cars in AM and LMP. Another returnee was Dougie after weeks of recuperation from his surgery, he too having lost none of his competitiveness.

We spent a large part of the afternoon testing, fixing and tuning with the races starting later than hoped. By the time we had qualified (six sessions of 3-4 cars) we only only had time to run two races each for AM and GT and just one for LMP. As we had limited marshals available, there was sometimes some confusion during the races, but it all panned out in the end. As indicated by the qualifying times (check them for all three classes), racing was very competitive and only after the computer crunched the numbers did I know what the final results would be and they were close (just look at the points for each class and champion driver)!

Hopefully we'll continue to see O'Brie, Nicholas and Dougie joining us on a regular basis in the future.

Congratulations to the winners.

Next event's classes: Porsche Cup, Historic Saloon, Vintage Sports (3 races each @ 30 laps - 270 total for all classes). Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars!

See you on the circuit...
