POSTPONED TO 10TH AUGUST

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (3rd August) for our Group A classes - Historic Saloon (HS), American Pony Car (APC), Vintage Sports '60-'75 (VS6075).

We plan to start at 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes). Cars will be moved to the parc fermé location after they are inspected and comply with the requirements.
  • Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Post-race Technical Inspection (if required).
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
Key points to pass tech inspection:
  • Historic Saloon - Motor up to 18,000 RPM; USD rule. All magnets must be positioned ahead of centreline of the distance between guide flag pivot point and rear axle; Standard wheels; Angle-winder pods are prohibited; Body width may not exceed 60 mm.
  • American Pony Car - Motor up to 21,500 RPM; USD rule. All magnets must be positioned ahead of centreline of the distance between guide flag pivot point and rear axle; Standard wheels; Front tyre minimum diameter: 17mm on wheel. Rear tyre minimum diameter: 19mm on wheel.
  • Vintage Sports '60-'75 - Motor up to 22,500 RPM; USD rule. Magnets must be positioned within 40 mm and forward of the rear axle (this is the forward magnet position on a Slot.It motor pod); Any chassis is allowed.
You can see the 2017 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Hoping to be there, but it would depend upon family commitments and funeral schedule for my nephew.
Will let you know for sure as soon as I can.

Nice photos Gordon.
Are the cars pictured the 1:1 versions of the cars you'll be racing (ie. Capri, Camaro, Lola) ?

No Steve. Maybe the Capri if it runs better than the Escort. I don't have a Camaro or Lola T70 Mk III, but Ram has the former, O'Brie the latter!

Appreciate your concern Steve and especially if the lineup MC IROC cars are raced.

Firday 10th. August 2012 ~ five years ago today (Thursday 10th. August 2017) is the eve of that devastating flood that occurred in Petit Valley, Diego Martin and other surrounding areas ..!

Not that I want to remember that horrible rainwater day but just can't forget because the amount of homes and lives were affected by such destructive and muddy water on Saturday 11th. August 2012

Just thought I could mention (here) because I believe it's what started my lack of interest for this slotcar hobby. Long story short - most of my huge slot-car collection was underwater and (believe it or not) to this day still cleaning off some of these same items ... Mind you - I did try to keep the interest going and with lots of support too but somehow - I just don't seem to have the same enthusiasm.

Had to share and hope that's okay with all.

ATM - noticing it's slightly raining exactly like the night before on that sad and dreadful day ...

It just simply and steadily rained for 5 straight hours :!:

Luke I understand your loss and feel for you. I know that that experience was a turning point in your passion for slot car racing and I could see that your enthusiasm has diminished over time. We meet a lot of challenges in life and never know what's in store for the future. We have no control over that, but there's an old saying that really rings true in times of reflection and is a simple one - "Life is what you make it". The true meaning of these words has to take into consideration how we react to and deal with the things that are thrown at us in life. Sometimes its very hard and other times less so, but the important thing is to look forward, not backwards (except at the good memories) and to try to seek out happiness and joy as we continue living our lives. How this all applies to slot car racing with you is entirely up to you. I just hope it will be positive.
