Seeing (and knew it was somewhat in the making) there should be no more official scheduled IROC classes ...
I am letting be known (now and here) it's a very disenchanting one but if this is the IROC choice by most - so be it.

FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
Re: FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
Hello Gordon and others,There should be no more official scheduled IROC classes. These cars can be used to introduce new drivers to FRC and for the odd special occasions. When run, we can halve the number of races if necessary to save time by having drivers skip down two positions for each race instead of one position.
Touching a bit more with my previous post.
I think it's known I'm the most (and for all you know - probably the only) avid IROC fan in the whole "core" group and with the (very straightforward) lined up words above ...
Sorry and without hesitation getting straight to some extra thoughts ...
Rereading, it's looking like it would be the only discussion.
That being the case and simply put ... I might as well not be competing at any FRC racing events.
However - here's a suggestion below to still keep the IROC classes (alive) onboard and taking into consideration, how the SGTC IROC cars was recently taken out the racing equation.
- HS, APC, VS6075 / MGT IROC
RC, SC, F1 / MC IROC
MP, GT2017, LMP / NSS IROC
Just letting my thoughts be known,
Luke
Re: FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
G M Gordon,
You must be saying - Uh oh what now with Luke's early morning thoughts ..!
Anyway - it's about your racing window of 3 classes per night in 2 hours ~ 8:30 to 10:30pm ~ just happened to be an important piece of info I wasn't looking at (or even considered) for my IROC suggestion above.
So in all fairness to your new and original racing event schedule - please scratch my beloved IROC idea
In case you wondered - concerning me attending racing events, I will see how best I can muster up excitement for non-IROC racing.
Sorry if I caused you any unnecessary thinking.
Luke

Re: FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
Luke, I haven't responded till now because I've been giving this more thought. The last thing I want is to discourage anyone from participating at FRC events, especially a long-time regular like you. How about this compromise which will only mean another 20 min or so additional time per event over my original suggestions:
I'm sure the others will see my point.
- HS, APC, VS6075 / MC IROC (3 races)
- RC, SC, F1 / MGT IROC (3 races)
- MP, GT2017, LMP / NSS IROC (3 races)
I'm sure the others will see my point.
Re: FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
That I perfectly know Gordon but thinking to shorten any IROC event ... would be a rather dull and boring one and for the sake of time. It's better off not being raced.gordon wrote:The last thing I want is to discourage anyone from participating at FRC events ...
Mind you, I'm not forgetting (and fully taking into consideration) the amount of time and energy it takes for you to (most of all) setup and then put away FRC ... So there's really no need for any agreement to be reached - that these IROC cars/classes have to be raced on race nights.
The point I'm putting across and in a nutshell - is to still have these "beloved" classes officially scheduled and then decided during race night if there's time to host whichever one listed ...
We've done this before a number of times and it was all depending on (any new and regular) drivers turnout.
I've tried my best to be as brief as possible with this topic reply and sure it was easy to understand.

Gordon,
I forgot this part out and if you're in accordance ~ how about this recommendation with FRC new A, B & C racing groups ..

Re: FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
I was in agreement with Gordon's original idea but seeing the above posts, would be okay with including some IROC action on an alternating basis. In the same way however, that we've rationalized the two previous GT car classes (GT and Restricted GT) by sidelining the faster GT class, I think we could omit one of the IROC GT car classes (I would suggest Mixed GT) and instead, run the non-magnet class on an alternating basis.
Re: FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
Why pick on "little brother" IROC racing ..!

- A. MP, GT2017, LMP / NSS IROC
B. HS, APC, VS6075 / MC IROC
C. RC or FLNM, SC, F1 / MGT IROC

Re: FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
Lots of ideas and suggestions here. I think we need to have a "pow-wow" - a meeting with all interested parties to discuss this and to raise any other thoughts that are in the interest of our racing.
Re: FRC Thoughts Mid-2017
I like the idea for 2017!!
I for one have a problem with the late night and a hectic day the next.
The better cycle time would also give us a better opportunity to develop the cars
Sounds good to me
