Would be great to have a nice analogue as well as a new digital track in the north. I have a number of cars which are analogue (Mini, Caterham etc.) and it would be nice to be able to give them a run.

Happy to fit in the written dialogue about the track design at the top of page.

This one of a kind design was done by Gordon ... and many thanks for plus posting here on the forum. You'll may remember this project/idea was somewhat mentioned under the Paddock (also considered for ole talk) section - My Scalextric Classic Tracks - which has now been considered News ~ New Analog 4-lane track coming ~ on the forum.

I am planning to build this neatly done design at my home with my Classic Tracks collection listed under dotted line ... and with the help of David "boo" who was really the person who suggested this "2001 Retro" type track and (believe it or not) he still talks about today - how he enjoyed racing on 15+ years ago.

Item number C8212 (Barriers/Clips) is a low $$$ cost option for outer grey "Armco" barriers (no borders) going around circuit ... and came up with a guess-estimate total of 40 guardrails (& 120 Clips) for the design.

Concerning the Scalextric Tan Borders and Barriers ... which I don't have much stock in for this layout - here's a list for required pieces below:

• 00 / 20 C8223 Half Straight Borders and Barriers - 5 packs total
  00 / 28 C8224 R3 Curves Outer Borders and Barriers - 7 packs total
  04 / 12 C8225 R2 Curves Inner Borders and Barriers - 3 packs total
  01 / 16 C8233 Lead In/Out Borders and Barriers - 8 packs total
  04 / 03 C8280 R2 Half Curves Inner Borders and Barriers - 1 pack total

If going this way ... checked it out (online) and it's a "ballpark" cost of $225US / $1530TT duty and taxes not included.

Know for sure - this style of tan borders isn't the way to go ATM ...

All the same - we have been discussing lots of other things/ideas going forward for this (new shape) Scalextric RMS (32' TRL) 4-lane analog circuit and other than the actual design, thanks to Gordon again ~ I have been putting together all the track pieces, power supply, controllers and anything else needed making it take place in the near future.

Anyway - I would like to continue sharing the progress of this project (on the FRC forum) and any suggestions - please feel free ...

However - this is where the new track project at and will make details available as it progresses.

Fantastic project Luke ! Thanks for suggesting it Boo.
Why do you say that the tan borders is not the way to go ?
Anyway, which ever way you decide to go, I'm sure the results will be wonderful. If you need to purchase these borders , I'd be willing to make a contribution.

Thanks for the complements Steve and concerning the Tan Borders - not being the way to go - the reason is simply keeping this new project cost/budget to a minimum.

I think with my stock of C8212 guardrails & clips - it should do a relatively good job just securing barriers on the outsides of the circuit, at least for the time being because there are so many ways to upgrade as the project goes along ...

I am looking forward (later today) setting up & testing one C919 "classic" power pack with two C297/98 "classic" hand throttles all connected to one C160 "classic" full straight for each rail and see how things go squeezing throttle (lanes 1 & 2) triggers, holding up a car or two on each rail.

Sure you remember that (ole school) method building a Scalextric set

Here's an Update ...

The testing of items C919, C297/298 and C160 connections (after lunch today) went very well just getting power to both lanes with a single track section ... I am not surprise these items are still in very good working order and now neatly stacked away in a box labeled ~ Power & Borders.

Above are the other items - I have in boxes (manageable size - same dimensions) with labels to keep things in a methodical order - one on top each other.

So when ready to assemble the actual circuit, there shouldn't be any issues looking for anything ...

BTW - about the Power Connections ...

You'll may have noticed, I will be using 2 "Classic" hand throttles to 1 "Vintage" Power Supply ... Hopefully all should (observation gained) go well and if not there are some other methods getting equal power going around in each lane.

It is a possibility but don't think I will be going there ... other than just packed away.

All in all it is a pleasant activity keeping one's mind in the slot
