Remaining events for 2016
Re: Remaining events for 2016
Sounds like a great idea Luke. We would of course have to get Rocky's input for something like this to go ahead.
Re: Remaining events for 2016
Thanks Steve and I didn't expect anything different ... because I already know he (Rocky) is the owner and your close friend too.
Re: Remaining events for 2016
Hello Gordon,
How about hosting another FRC special event like this one ~ which was done exactly 61 months ago ...
Just in case the report is on page 20 under Racing

Re: Remaining events for 2016
Luke, if we run something like that what classes will you drive in?
Re: Remaining events for 2016
Strange you should ask Gordon because I thought the same thing and figured I can try to organize at least 6 out of the 9 classes.
In the spirit of the suggestion ...
What do you (plus others) think and how about 30 laps X 3 + 15 mins X 3 + another 30 laps X 3 races in whatever order with these 9 classes

Re: Remaining events for 2016
Btw hope you had a good night's rest and feeling totally refreshed this morning
Re: Remaining events for 2016
I take it you mean 1 race of 30 laps each for six of these classes and 1 race of 15 minutes each for three of them. That isn't sounding too bad. My concern is twofold:Luke wrote:What do you (plus others) think and how about 30 laps X 3 + 15 mins X 3 + another 30 laps X 3 races in whatever order with these 9 classes
- Getting enough cars for each of these classes for (fairly) full grids (FRC rules require a minimum of three starters for a race, but I would prefer larger grids).
- Not much incentive for non-regular drivers who may have very few (or no) cars. I know that we seem to just end up with our core group of about five drivers of late, but it's always nice to try to encourage others.
I would like to do something different for a final special event for 2016.
Re: Remaining events for 2016
Hi all,
my concern about 1 race of 30 laps for each class would be if (however unlikely) we get more than 6 drivers for a particular class, the 'surplus' drivers would not get to race at all in that class. With the normal scheme of things with 3 races per class, they would get to replace the lower placed drivers in the previous race. If this race format is accepted however, I think the races should be a bit longer than 30 laps to enable drivers to recover lost ground in the event of de-slots etc. as there would be no follow-up races in which to do so.

Re: Remaining events for 2016
Trying my best ... but easy to find Race Report 86 (top of page 20/Racing) is showing a systematic scale how this racing event (laps vs time) method was done with 8 drivers and 6 racing (AM, F1, HS, LMP, SC & VS) classes.

Re: Remaining events for 2016
Guys,
As the year ticks down, we have fewer and fewer remaining events before we close off for the Christmas season. I'm thinking that I'd really prefer to stop racing by or before the end of the first week in December. I've updated the list of upcoming events and here's where it stands at present:
