At recent low driver turnout events, we've developed a system to deal with de-slots in a manner that is fair for all. As usual, when a car de-slots, the driver calls "Track!". At this point everyone stops driving and the errant car is re-slotted approximately the length of the pit wall back from where it de-slotted (about 3 ft). The race then resumes. If we have any disputes about where it should be re-slotted, we now have a piece of string cut to the pit wall length. During our races last night, we got several opportunities to test this new "de-slot penalty" measuring string, although we only used it once. In that instance my Mustang was the guilty party:

So it pays to keep it in the slot!

We also had a little visitor to the track while racing was in progress:

I removed him to prevent him from becoming the unfortunate victim of an oncoming car.

Congratulations to the winners.

Next event's classes: Group E - American Muscle - 3 races @ 30 laps, GT - 3 races @ 30 laps, LMP - 3 races @ 30 laps.

As usual, don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated fastest times for 2016.

See you on the circuit...

Enjoyable night of racing as usual at FRC despite small driver turnout. Thanks as usual to Ramesh and Dion for making the long trip to race, but especially so given the earlier inclement weather. Great to see O'Brie back in action after recent bout of flu.
The racing in both classes was as tight as ever and the margin of victory in Mod. Prod. of only one point bears this out. Was looking forward to great things from O'Brie's new BMW M3 after fantastic debut at its previous event. Unfortunately a broken chassis and its replacement by a totally radical setup which shows lots of promise but needs sorting put paid to that. Gordon's pole setting time of 5.059 seconds was truly eye opening. Hopefully at the next event for this class, my Escort's lap time will be slower than this by less than this event's 16.7 % !
Congrats to Ramesh on winning both classes raced. Can't believe I won Index Of Performance with one point, with the spread between first and last here being only two points, three drivers finishing with zero points !
Looking forward to the next event.

Hello Gordon,

Sorry if I may have disappointed you (and probably the other guys too) when at the very ent hour I sent you a message (text) that I couldn't make it again at this FRC event. In spite of you not replying, thought to myself it's your way ~ of message well received and understanding very well how you have lots/much doing getting FRC race ready and as mentioned - I had a very rough day at work ..! It had me so worn out - thought by the time I got home and taking a shower getting ready - I would have felt much better but this wasn't the case because I didn't feel like even driving my real car for a short distance, far less for not even having a MP and F1 slotcar race ready :(

Now mind you - I did think about showing up at the very last minute - probably to help with the marshaling and the regular fellowship but decided I really can't and remembered the new method (well pictured and explained above) re-slotting the first de-slotted car back a pit lane distance of 3 feet which was also well achieved (me being present) at last event.

Indeed and thanks for understanding Gordon and find the pic with the Modified Production cars looked like it was quite an exciting competition with you and Ramesh's 1-2 wins, O'Brie and Steve's 3rd-4th positions plus last but not least ever so improving Dion (aka Drakes Dawson) for his 5th place spots for an overall result.

I am wondering now - if you had the time to try out (test) the winning car restriction idea at this event ..?

To tell the truth I forgot about trying it, probably because of how late we finished the scheduled races. It would have been too late to run them anyway. When Steve first arrived I did mention it and we both had the same game plan... aim for second place, never for first. Bound to win the class that way.

Have a feeling you are not very happy with a winning car restriction Gordon because that plan of action isnt sounding like your 132 driving style but to tell you my truth - possibly you for second and Steve's congrats to Ramesh (mostly) and you again since the last MP ad F1 event :D

We good okay and yes we could all have off days and nights too ;)

Guys,

Glad to see all is well. I really miss the racing but all my stuff is pack up and difficult to really get race ready.
Busy with getting my office ready for the move.
Keep the FRC flag flying.

Arden.

Good to hear from you Arden. We're missing you at FRC, but totally understand. Look forward to seeing the new slot racing facility at your place.
