Sounds like a great idea Luke. We would of course have to get Rocky's input for something like this to go ahead.

Thanks Steve and I didn't expect anything different ... because I already know he (Rocky) is the owner and your close friend too.

Hello Gordon,

How about hosting another FRC special event like this one ~ which was done exactly 61 months ago ...
  • Race Report 86 - Saturday September 10th 2011 ...
... and maybe something similar with these 9 classes listed below ;-)
  • 1. Restricted GT
    2. Historic Saloon
    3. Vintage Sports '60-'75
    4. Slot.It Challenge
    5. Modified Production
    6. F1
    7. APC (A Kick Off with this new class also)
    8. GT
    9. LMP
Sure it will be an exciting Special Event for all to end off the year ..?

Just in case the report is on page 20 under Racing :-)

Strange you should ask Gordon because I thought the same thing and figured I can try to organize at least 6 out of the 9 classes.

In the spirit of the suggestion ...

What do you (plus others) think and how about 30 laps X 3 + 15 mins X 3 + another 30 laps X 3 races in whatever order with these 9 classes :?:

I take it you mean 1 race of 30 laps each for six of these classes and 1 race of 15 minutes each for three of them. That isn't sounding too bad. My concern is twofold:
  1. Getting enough cars for each of these classes for (fairly) full grids (FRC rules require a minimum of three starters for a race, but I would prefer larger grids).
  2. Not much incentive for non-regular drivers who may have very few (or no) cars. I know that we seem to just end up with our core group of about five drivers of late, but it's always nice to try to encourage others.
What do you other guys think about Luke's suggestion? Do you have any suggestions for a special event? Let's hear your ideas below.

I would like to do something different for a final special event for 2016.

Hi all,
my concern about 1 race of 30 laps for each class would be if (however unlikely) we get more than 6 drivers for a particular class, the 'surplus' drivers would not get to race at all in that class. With the normal scheme of things with 3 races per class, they would get to replace the lower placed drivers in the previous race. If this race format is accepted however, I think the races should be a bit longer than 30 laps to enable drivers to recover lost ground in the event of de-slots etc. as there would be no follow-up races in which to do so.

Trying my best ... but easy to find Race Report 86 (top of page 20/Racing) is showing a systematic scale how this racing event (laps vs time) method was done with 8 drivers and 6 racing (AM, F1, HS, LMP, SC & VS) classes.

Guys,

As the year ticks down, we have fewer and fewer remaining events before we close off for the Christmas season. I'm thinking that I'd really prefer to stop racing by or before the end of the first week in December. I've updated the list of upcoming events and here's where it stands at present:
  • 20/10/16 - AM, GT, LMP
  • 3/11/16 - MGT, RGT
  • 17/11/16 - HS, VS, SC
  • 1/12/16 - MC, RC (or a special event to end the year - please read some of the previous suggestions and make your own)
Some of these dates will probably be changed to accommodate Ramesh's travel plans for November, so I'll update this as soon as I have confirmation.
