Racing this Thursday (8th September)

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:30 PM this Thursday (8th September) for our Group B classes, Historic Saloon - 3 races @ 25 laps, Vintage Sports '60-'75 - 3 races @ 25 laps, Slot.It Challenge - 3 races @ 25 laps. We'll also do some IROC races if we have a few newcomers who are interested.

Remember that we try to start our events no later than 8:30PM sharp. Here's the usual schedule:
  • Free practice and testing up to 8:30 PM
  • 8:30 PM - Technical Inspection (excluding IROC classes).
  • Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • Post-race Technical Inspection (if required)
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
You can see the 2016 class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Reality Checks

Will be there for sure. Lovely photo of that Mk 1 Capri. This Broadspeed prepared Group 2 car was very successful and its V6 engine made a wonderful sound (check out Broadspeed Group 2 Capri on YouTube). It inspired my purchase of a 1/32 scale version (with a different livery). Was not very successful at FRC though.

Good Morning Gordon,

I already mention this to you and letting the other guys know one-time ...

I don't have any Historic Saloon and Vintage Sport cars to race - so won't be taking part in these 2 classes :/

However and just in case ... Sold my Scalextric Escort (HS) to Tony and traded the Revell and Fly Ferraris (VS6075) with Dion for 2 Scalextric Porsche 911 cars. One was a present and I kept the next ;)

Remember - it's the one O'Brie mistook for his from my slotcar kit at last event ~ lol

Still have my Lancia LC2 Slot.It Challenge car though and would be racing in this class :)

Also - GR8 pics and what about showing the guys. what that action packed track of cars (second pic) in the same spot looks like today ..?

Here's the same spot today with a classic race featuring many cars of the same era as in the pic above (circa 1966):

Spectators are now really far away from the action? I know... I was there for the 2011 Le Mans 24 hour race.

So, which one do you prefer?
