Again I agree With all your points Luke. It will be as fair as possible for everyone and as efficient as possible this way.

AOK Gordon and this also means these recommended IROC procedures with your expertise of course will need to be written down on stone - hehehe - I mean in the FRC Rules and Class Regulations and maybe over the (not raced/used anymore) FRC Ferrari Team Challenge Competition Regulations and change to FRC IROC Competition Regulations plus with any changes/adjustments you feel necessary.

In all fairness and on behalf Gordon, Steve and myself included - No changes are really being made to the 2016 rules ... Steve's idea 4 groupings/3 classes each instead of regular 5 groupings/2, 3, 2, 2 & 3 classes respectively was suggested for the future (believe 2017) and my idea without any great effort for the six IROC classes was just reviewing better racing procedures for all ... and just being supported by Steve and the FRC boss - Gordon.

Mind you - I consider you a boss as well Ramesh and I am not saying get back with main drive to get about six more serious people to keep things growing but sure you will agree - this idea (venture) is with great effort.

Read your reply (with your thoughts) about the suggested groupings A, B, C and D ~ perhaps in 2017 ... Now don't think I am trying to discourage with my reply but ....

I don't think that the prepping of 2,3,2,3 cars for groups A,B,C and D respectively would be such a large issue.

Maybe it's not for you but me personally, it will be and for all we know - even Ramesh because remember he sets up 4 to 5 cars per class for his crew of drivers.

In the past we used to race every week and as far as I can recall, there were 3 classes raced on most nights.

True but remember this could have been the cause for the low number of drivers today.

The present 2 week interval between race meets is sufficient I think to work on cars for the upcoming event.

I could agree with you here but ... some how (reasons above) feel I shouldn't ...

I also feel that once a car is prepared initially, it would hardly need a total revamp between outings

That's providing it's doing very competitive lap times.

Taking the rpm down a bit but the torque up a notch and thought about this thought-provoking idea early this morning while having a hot mug of milo

How about this new and radical overhaul (for a faster, stronger and easier racing night) to the existing framework of FRC's 5 (A, B, C, D & E) groupings ..!

Knowing what I know lately - it looks like a clever and balanced way for anyone of us always encouraging new persons to race (almost every event) and more than enough time for any person preparing any 132 (and yes hehe - pun intended) class of cars. It also wouldn't take much time getting accustom to ... in 2017 of course

Luke, while this is as you put it a radical suggestion, it is one that I can't agree with. I've always considered the IROC classes as "filler" classes which supplement our main classes where drivers own and prepare their own cars. I prefer to alternate the IROC classes if necessary to reduce the number of cycles in our racing schedule.

Hi Luke,
my idea is to reduce the number of groupings from five to four with the result that one would get to race the cars so carefully prepared about once every eight weeks (assuming that racing takes place every other week). Your suggestion is to leave the number of groupings at five but also to alternate the non-IROC classes meaning that one would get to race each car not at five event intervals but at ten, ie. every twenty weeks. I really think that this would be a disincentive to anyone preparing cars and to the racing losing a large part of its excitement.
