Guys,
We have great news! There's finally a second large digital track up and running in T&T. Yes, Rocky's track is ready and from the following pic it certainly looks good:
The track has an 80ft lap length and looks to be a great challenge to drivers, with fast and slow corners, lefts and rights, a couple of carousel-type turns and a nice ess-bend. The main straight is 11ft 7in long, 2 ft longer than FRC's 9ft 7in. As you can see from the picture, it features an interesting border fencing to stop cars from leaving the table. That first corner looks real fast, covering more than 180º. Should make for some exciting race starts.
Here's a track plan of the layout:
Memorise where those lane changers are so you can take advantage of them when you start racing there!

Looks very interesting. Can't wait to take a drive on it. May need to re-gear some cars for that long straight !
Re: Rocky's track
I haven't seen the track live as yet but there's a correction to the layout diagram... there's no lane change in the final corner. There may be a crossover just before the corner.

Here's a link to the layout on HotSlots 132 where Rocky ordered the track pieces:

They've named it "Rocky's Revenge". I guess they like my design!

The more I look at this track, the more I like it.
Re: Rocky's track
Actually got to drive it tonight and it didn't disappoint at all. Gordon and I (plus Jonathan) from FRC joined Rocky and some of the Rocky's Revenge team for some informal races with stock Scalextric GT cars. I really like the layout with its numerous curves and long front straight. Great fun.
Well done Rocky !

Re: Rocky's track
Great track to drive. The slow twisty section is a real challenge and the main straight and first corner are real fast. I really love that first corner. It's going to be ideal for race starts, giving drivers a few seconds to settle down before the first tight turn. There are a lot of lane changers too providing ample overtaking spots.

A few pics from our first visit to the track on Saturday night:

Hello Gordon,
A tremendous amount of work done for this huge and fabulous looking SSD circuit ..!
Although, I must point out one thing from photos - I find that there isnt enough space between the pit lane and the racing sector at the back of it ... Is something being done to make sufficient room for finishing off borders/barriers with progress down the road
Also ~ from a technical point of view ...
This isnt really the second digital track.
We cant forget about PIR

Actually, after these pics were taken I added some borders in that very area, as it was one of the first things I too noticed after doing some laps. Remember, this is a brand new track so there will be things to sort out and to refine. I'm sure that it will be a first class track when this is done.Luke wrote:Although, I must point out one thing from photos - I find that there isnt enough space between the pit lane and the racing sector at the back of it ... OK, you're right, but PIR was never used other than an initial test just after it was first built.Luke wrote:Also ~ from a technical point of view ...
