Re: Race report #206 - Thurs March 3rd 2016 (MC, RC)
Great to start back racing at FRC after a long break. The evening was great fun and it was good to see many of the familiar racing guys again. The event was as competitive as ever, as evidenced by four drivers ending up with the same points in Mini Challenge. Congrats to Gordon on taking the first pole position of the 2016 season and to Luke B. on winning both classes raced (on points) as well as winning the Rally competition on elapsed time.
Lovely to see Kyle's cars given a special place of honour at the track. We know that from now on, he'll be at every single meeting at FRC with us.

A first rate photo (above) of Kyle and how he's showing such power of focusing one's attention ..! He is also looking very spirited and (should be in his twenties then) remembering him for the earlier times at FRC ... I also remember him to be very competitive while standing next to him during races and yet still being very big hearted for others around. Take for example - there was a time my Honda NSX GT car rear motor mount broke and he came up to me and took the time to explain (in great detail) the same problem he had and repaired with his Porsche 911 GT car - which is now clearly displayed on the FRC circuit.
The Mini Challenge IROC Race was a BLAST ..!
Although a lot of time passed with no slotcar racing - it was still some very competitive racing and seeing now, out of the 5 cars used - only the number 2 and number 4 cars were the ones to pull off the (4 to 3 respectively) possible 7 victories. I must say though, the only somewhat disappointing thing with this class for a bit more excitement - is all 6 cars should have been used. Mind you, I did ask why and got no answers and it seemed like talking to the wall. I told myself such is life and had a time nevertheless at this event.

Got to see (and drive) Gordon's new NSU TT. Sweet little car,and hopefully a new entrant in the Historic Saloon class.

Luke, initially there were only seven drivers, so although Damian was there he had indicated that he was probably leaving early. Because of this, in order to be assured of at least two marshals for all the Mini races we decided to only have five-car races. As it turned out Damian stayed till the end of the night's competition and Edward turned up and spent a bit of time marshaling, but we did not know that this would be the case when the decision was made to race only five cars.
Hope this explains it.

G M Gordon,
Thanks for reply/explanation but with all due respect and understanding the significance of this 206 event plus for all the things you do arranging these races - I am listening to you but somehow I am not hearing and here's what I mean by that ...
This new IROC procedure/method viewtopic.php?f=7&t=843 started January 2015 (as you may know) and strange enough, with the same MC (R/Report 184) class which I believe was generated right after/from a MGT (R/Report 183) event and believe you will agree. At the same time - anyone looking back at other IROC (plus the NSS and SGTC) race reports. One will notice the difference with the these type 4-car or 5-car races compared to a full 6-car racing event - whether or not there's enough marshals.
The point I am making Gordon and you maybe wondering where I am going with this is ... and sorry to say, I find it very drab when any IROC racing event is shortened. In other words - 5 races for 6 drivers. Hindsight would have it - if 6 races was done per driver at this 206 event, the score sheet with 4 persons (16-16-16-16) wouldn't have been so tight.
Anyway - its notable I wasn't part of the IROC decision and ah not beating up about that okay but just making a point now ~ I strongly believe (for other solutions) that no IROC event (6 races) don't really need to be cut down in this way because of the marshaling situations.
After all and you may remember (not sure which class event though) a race we did sometime ago with one and only one marshal and I kind of remember it being Marlon when he himself called STOP - not reaching cars in time.
Sure I made myself clear making a point doing something positive and this happens when I care ...

Re: Race report #206 - Thurs March 3rd 2016 (MC, RC)
Hi guys it was a special night to race in memory of Kyle , and to share a part of the Gonzales family memory of their loving son.I appreciate the privilege to share in a minute of silence and a time of prayer .The evening got off to pleasant start and ended with some nice old talk and stories. Both Gordon and Damian shared some fun stories, racing nights is always a stress reliever for me and it takes our minds off everything else. I was going after both titles but got narrowly edged out by Luke B , next time i will do better.Just to encourage Luke T you are the best reminder i have come across, after reading some posts i remembered an old joke ,dont take it personally just laugh, usually when a wife is trying to make a point and her husband is not listening , instead of getting hysterical she gets historical.See you guys soon .
