Hi Ram,

My first thought is to cancel any lap that is below a specific time. If the computer RMS allows you to ignore times lower than a specific time you can set this value for each class you run. Say the lap record for a class is 2.8 sec, you can tell the RMS to ignore any times under 2.5 sec, for example.

This will at least solve half the problem - the lane that records the the two times (one correct, one that is below the minimum) will only get the correct (higher) time. The other half of the problem is that the car that jumped lanes will get no time for that lap, but perhaps that can be considered a penalty for de-slotting.

Of course this requires that the RMS has this feature.

We do not use the Rms system but you suggestion is applicable and appreciated. we also have a kill switch which can shut down the rail power only to re set cars, thanks Ramesh

What software records the laps and presents the results? Perhaps it can also do what I suggested. Let me know the name of the software.

Gordon,

The software can do what you said, but the person will also lose his lap. there will be two lap times that will be under the acceptable time and one will be legal but the time will be wrong. Sometimes the marshall puts the car in the wrong lane!

The best option may be to kill the power.
