Hi Gordon,
I think the suggestions in your post of Sunday 10th May would achieve the desired results.

These are the specifications Steve is referring to and I now tend to agree that we should configure some cars to this and see whether it achieves our objectives:
  • Body: LMP and GT models based on real cars that raced from 1982 onwards (for LMP, Group C onwards). Windows may be tinted so as not to reveal the cockpit.
  • Chassis: Free.
  • Minimum Ground Clearance: 1.0 mm / 0.040 in.
  • Interior: Free but must comply with General item 3.
  • Digital Chip: Free.
  • Motor - GT-E: Up to 21,500 RPM.
  • Motor - LMP-E: Up to 25,000 RPM.
  • Gearing: Free.
  • Motor Pod (where applicable): Free.
  • Magnets - GT-E: Maximum Magnet Marshal downforce of 200 gms.
  • Magnets - LMP-E: Maximum Magnet Marshal downforce of 275 gms.
  • Wheels: Free.
  • Axles: Free.
  • Tyres: Free.
  • Guide Flag: Free.
  • Car Minimum Weight: 90 gm.

Rebuilt my LPM-E Audi R18 to match these specs this afternoon/tonight, all the while watching Le Mans live on the iPad right at my workbench. Also started work on a GT-E Ferrari F430. What a great way to spend a Saturday evening :D

Porsche and Audi have traded first place since the start of the race at 9am today and at the moment Porsche are leading by a couple of seconds after around fifteen hours of racing! Looking forward to viewing the last few hours from 6am tomorrow morning.

This all has me stoked for our LMP-E / GT-E endurance event!

Gordon,

You sure know how to make a race day extra special with the best of - 1:1 and 1:32 scale - both worlds :)

Looking back at this topic noticed (Sat. 14th. June 2014) I posted - sure more details will need to be worked out - and happy to see, exactly 1 year later (Sunday 14th. June 2015) came to a reasoning with these specific "fine tuned" regulations to help regulate (Ramesh's hehe) speeds ...

Although, hope we don't take that same sort of time to set a racing date for this special event.

No one knows the future but the best way to predict it (the future) is to invent it.

FRC's 200th. achievement event (@ 2 weeks per event) could be sometime early September and believe that will be too far to host this 1 hour event. I'm sure after a week or so of testing to see if the desired lap times are achieved - mid July looking like an excellent time to host this event. The part not sure about - is if a regular Thursday race night or a one-off Saturday race day will be the best way but sure this could be simply worked out ...

Anyway ... this is my main idea and sure it will get any FRC racer fired up .. :!:

How about the Saturday race day and have a Special Opening Event with all 6 IROC classes (PC, LS, FTC, MC, NSS & SGTC) and then the 1 hour LMP-E/GT-E endurance event ..?

Opening event could also be called the - MIXED IROC SERIES, CYCLE or TEMPO (shortened form MIS, MIC or MIT)

Helping out with ideas and hope you like :D

Luke, I'd say you are very close to my target with respect to the date of this event. I'm looking at either Thursday the 9th or Saturday 11th July.

I'd like some feedback with respect to both the proposed dates and whether you'd rather do this event on a Thursday or Saturday.

It's a FRC cycle week (rotation) for slotcar racing GG 8-)

Letting you know now - I am fine with either or ...

The 8 FRC Special Events (in order) were held on these days of the week:
  • 1. Monday
    2. Thursday
    3. Thursday
    4. Thursday
    5. Thursday
    6. Monday
    7. Saturday
    8. Thursday
A study of One Saturday, Two Mondays & Five Thursdays ... So lets see what day of the week the 9th. event will take place on ...

All the same, I have a feeling its going to be a Thursday night :)

A study of 1 Saturday, 2 Mondays & 5 Thursdays ... for 8 special events.

Seeing what day of the week the 9th. event will now take place ...
  • 1. Monday
    2. Thursday
    3. Thursday
    4. Thursday
    5. Thursday
    6. Monday

    8. Thursday
    9. Saturday
Will stand at 2 Saturdays, 2 Mondays & 5 Thursdays ... for 9 special events.

May seem like not valuable info but worthy nonetheless ;)

GG,

Its known - judge nothing before the appointed time ...

... and as it turned out - it was a good choice you made, not to host the Mixed IROC racing as an opening race with the 9th. event.

Which could also mean -

FRC's upcoming 200th. Race Day will relate numerically in order, hosting the new Mixed IROC racing class for the 10th. Special Event.

BTW - the 200th. event is expected to be Thursday 3rd. September 2015 :)
