LMP-E and GT-E cars ready to test

My LMP-E Audi R18 and GT-E Ferrari F430 are ready for testing under what will probably be the final regs for the event.



The Audi has a 25K motor and weighs in at 92gm with downforce of 290gm (107% of 275 is 294).

The Ferrari has a 21.5K motor, weighs in at 92gm with downforce of 192gm (107% of 200 is 214).

Your Audi & Ferrari spec cars, looking like they are in full racing mode with those well balanced numbers. I am wondering now, even though you (may) still have to select a team mate - which class would you like or hope to be racing in ..?

• • Audi 25K motor - weight 92 gms & 290gcm (107% of 275 is 294/up by 19) downforce.
  • F430 21K motor - weight 92 gms & 192gcm (107% of 200 is 214/up by 14) downforce.

One enquiry - with the 107% rule.

• 1. Will you be using a round-off number - cant remember if its 105 or 110% though ..?

Here's a thought what to call the 6 FRC IROC classes (PC, LS, FTC, MC, NSS & SGTC) and a total of 36 cars ... by a sound name.

• • Mixed GT Series / MGTS

The suggested racing class as the Opening Event:

• • Opening Event: Mixed GT Series - "featuring" the PC, LS, FTC, MC, NSS & SGTC cars
  • Main Event: LMP-E/GT-E Endurance Event

Both classes would/will pull their own tactics and action-packed racing ... First a total of 36 cars but for any one racer, you only have 6 different cars to make an impact on the circuit. Then the Endurance Event is self-explanatory with the 2 classes by 3 teams each.

What's your take (& others if there's any at all) on this?

Luke I think a better reference name would be simply "Mixed IROC". With respect to the cars being driven, do we really want drivers choosing between so many cars for each race? Maybe a better thing would be to roll a dice and whatever number it comes up with, we race that car for each IROC class. For example, if the roll comes up as 5, we race the number 5 car in each IROC class - the number 5 Ferrari, Porsche, Mini, GT-R, etc.

Hi GG,

Me again and sure you're happy like me, its a public holiday today

I took a nap after lunch and got up with a keen mind thinking about ... rolling a dice and the number that comes up, race the 6 cars with that number for each IROC class.

I am not trying the same thing for different results but just adding to this useful idea.

For how its known ~ racing 18 cars in a Mixed GT (MGT) event ... A display board with these (3 rows of 6) cars and lets say there's 8 - 10 drivers present - then each driver race cars (any 2 from each row) in a precise order, totaling 6 races per person.

In the new "suggested name" Mixed IROC Series (MIS) event. Lets say there's 12 - 15 drivers present ... racing 36 cars.

We get a second (could be done by yours truly) display board with rows 4, 5 & 6 for the next 18 cars. Then have all 36 cars in horizontal lines with the No.1 cars being the first set of cars to race and so on with 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 numbered cars.

Example:

• No.1 ~ 997 - Lambo - F430 - Mini - Nissan GTR - F430 cars
  No.2 ~ 997 - Lambo - F430 - Mini - Nissan GTR - F430 cars
  No.3 ~ 997 - Lambo - F430 - Mini - Nissan GTR - 997 cars
  No.4 ~ 997 - Lambo - F430 - Mini - Nissan GTR - 997 cars
  No.5 ~ 997 - Lambo - F430 - Mini - Nissan GTR - Lambo cars
  No.6 ~ 997 - Lambo - F430 - Mini - Nissan GTR - Lambo cars

... persons on the grid - could then roll the dice or even pull a number (mind you not by qualifying times) for starting positions.

In this way - it will be done in a precise order and by the luck of the draw to win this epic race ..

Luke, while I admire your enthusiasm for coming up with this suggestion, as you know, sometimes the KISS principle is best. I also am not too keen on the luck of the dice determining which cars each person drives. I feel we should all drive the same cars or be allowed to choose which car to drive in each race similar to how it's done in MGT. For simplicity I still think we should do the former - all drive the same cars based on a dice roll.

I am too with your FRC enthusiasm and had to reply because believe I'm keeping within the simple parameters you want for this epic race.

The dice rolling I wrote about isn't to determining which cars each person drives but for where you start on the grid.

The way the 36 cars are arranged on the chart above (for the 2 display boards) with 6 numbered rows - looks like an even playing field across the board where we all drive the same cars. The only thing though with this type race, I'm not sure how it will work out if - allowed to choose which car to drive in each race similar to how it's done in MGT.

Again, the way the chart is displayed - isn't that the same method you wrote about with the No.5 Ferrari, Porsche, Mini, GT-R, etc ..?

Looking over, we may not even have to roll a dice for anything and instead pull numbered cards form a container or bag for starting positions on the grid.

Concerning the Mixed IROC cars ... again.

I believe now, that this part wasn't taken into consideration:

Numbered Car for Numbered Controller

Which means, its sort of a different planning and organizing/setting up 6 sets of numbered 1-6 cars ... for drivers to race in a particular order.

Am I correct with this and thinking through again ... with a sixth sense, the 2 display boards will help workout this ticklish situation ..

This opening class - maybe called - Mixed IROC Series and with these combined details ...

• 1. An estimated number of 10-12 drivers taking part.
  2. Drivers pulling numbers for their grid positions.
  3. Respective back to back racing - Porsche, Lambo, Ferrari, Mini & Nissan GTR - cars.
  4. Wide range of motor - 18, 20, 21.5, 25 & 26K - rpms.
  5. Cars matching the numbered controllers.
  6. Number 1 driver is the only person with 6 consecutive races, while others are rotated.
  7. Every other number 6 driver will be cycled out and back in after competing scheduled (if there's 12 racers, every 6) races.
  8. All races are 20 laps each and (@ 12 racers) the duration fullness of a next 1hour event is possible.
  9. Note how there will more than enough marshals for every race on every corner.
  10. Performing in this type race for concentration & attrition will really get your adrenaline going.

... surly will contribute to some very compelling and exhilarating slotcar racing for a grand finish.

Its the Mother of all ... slotcar racing events ..
