Re: LMP-E/GT-E endurance event proposal
Well put by Gordon but Steve - what rule would you have rather ~ Upside-Down Magnetic or Magnetic Marshal ..
Re: LMP-E/GT-E endurance event proposal
GG,
The regs are to the point tuning these type slot cars and ...
How and where the magnets have to be positioned (with 1, 2, 3 or other) in cars ..?
Thanks,
Luke

- 1. Must be positioned in one of the standard magnet locations for the particular model.
2. All magnets must be positioned ahead of the rear tyres when viewed from the bottom or top of the chassis.
3. Any stock position or can be modified in positions for the particular model.
Thanks,
Luke
Re: LMP-E/GT-E endurance event proposal
Luke,
My mistake in excluding high-impact cars. They will be allowed. (See why we have a forum? One person can't think of everything.) Regarding the magnets, anything not mentioned is fine, so any number of magnets and they can be placed anywhere.

Re: LMP-E/GT-E endurance event proposal
Thanks for making these points clear GG and (read how) I recently mentioned that same belief to Arden in my words - that if it wasn't for the FRC forum, we would have been in a quandary for many topics and issues regarding slot car racing ...
Concerning the magnets ... it looks like line No 3. you're going with and see how this structured line of words sounding for an official magnet ruling

Here are the class rules as they now stand:

- Body (LMP-E): LMP cars produced from 1976 onwards.
- Body (GT-E): GT cars produced from 1982 onwards.
- Interior: Free but must comply with General item 3.
- Motor (LMP-E): Up to 25K rpm
- Motor (GT-E): Up to 21.5K rpm
- Magnets: Any number of magnets may be used and they can be placed anywhere. Upside-Down Rule (UDR) in effect - no added weight ahead of front axle.
Re: LMP-E/GT-E endurance event proposal
Finally GG,
Who would believe all this time had to go by ~ considering a possible course of action for this type endurance race ..?
This have to be a forum record ... and just days under a year in the fullness of time.
Arden - start and stop, Steve - coming or going and classic Ramesh - encouragement ... reviewing the advantages and disadvantages for this sort of one-off event.
Surely there could be no drawbacks and now anyone can go about tuning LMP-E and GT-E slotcars to these specific instructions.

Re: LMP-E/GT-E endurance event proposal
Hey Ramesh - thanks for noticing and your compliments
... but you too have a greater gift and you're aka the Professor
How you tune those slotcars is just amazing to me (and others) with such components.
In your case - you can withdraw a bit

Re: LMP-E/GT-E endurance event proposal
Guys, the tests we've done so far indicate that the cars will be significantly faster than my target times of 6 sec for LMP-E and 7 sec for GT-E (almost 2 sec quicker in the case of Ramesh's GT-E car), so I need suggestions as to how to achieve the target times. Perhaps we need to go back to using a Magnet Marshal downforce limit for each class and possibly a minimum weight for the cars. I don't want more than a maximum of .3 sec lower time than the target times.
Let's hear your thoughts.
