Percentage qualifying rule suggestion

If we are going to implement this rule, I would suggest +20% of pole position time.
One thing to consider however, is if someone wants to race a car other than the one qualified, how would its eligibility be verified ?

Steve et al, if we implement this, as with all things at FRC, it's not a hard an fast rule that's cast in stone. It's more of a guideline. If a car qualifies just out of the range, I see no reason to exclude it. There are also times as mentioned when a car is substituted or when a driver fails to get a qualifying time. In these cases I see no reason to exclude it.

Let's look at the positive aspect of doing this... as Ramesh mentioned, it gives everyone more reason to get their cars up to speed which will make them more competitive and possible winners. It will also make for the closer racing which everyone enjoys.

Hi guys , I would just like to agree with Gordon on his comment YES YES YES , closer racing is more enjoyable for everyone.Just to note i see cars filling up my rear view mirror a lot more now than last year and this gives me a sense of fulfillment, that the chase is on and i love it thanks guys . BTW, here's the simple formula to calculate the percentage:

Lap Time ÷ Pole Time x 100

Eg: 6.261 ÷ 6.095 x 100 = 102.72354389%

Rounded to zero decimals makes it 103%.
