Over the last several years the idea of putting direction indicators on the track has crossed my mind on more than a few occasions. These would be of great help to marshals, especially those new to FRC. Of late I've also been thinking of refreshing the "water" in Caiman Pond and to that end I had ordered another bottle of "Realistic Water", the same stuff used for the original water effect.
Well having worked on slot cars in between watching the 12 Hours of Sebring coverage yesterday and again this morning, I decided to lower the track and tackle these two plans, first making a stencil and then painting on direction arrows (chevrons actually) every 3-4 ft (except on the start/finish straight):
After this I cleaned the surface of Caiman Pond and poured on the "Realistic Water" before putting back on the track cover and raising it back to the ceiling (the water takes at least 24 hours to set):
Track work at FRC
Re: Track work at FRC
Job well done GG
These pics looks so dam lifelike and picturesque - its as if one is seated in an aircraft & while in-flight looking out their window seeing this view below. Also noticed how you moved the washrooms - is that a new location ..?
If so, its not a bad looking spot after all ...
You did excellent work with this track project & all by yourself too.
Those neat looking direction arrows ~ was some well researched images and seem to be painted in 132 scale as well
The reflection in the pond seems very restored. I remember you to be the first racer (and maybe only one) that I know about during a race to crash in the caiman pond.
I must remind you though - about the pic with the Mixed GT event last race grid ...
During that race the cars looked so spectacular racing around this track and I still believe it will be a finishing touch (somewhere) with 6 different color cars

Re: Track work at FRC
Luke, I moved the restrooms temporarily as I needed the space when pouring the water. Will put it back in its correct spot when next the track is lowered.
Re: Track work at FRC
Well done Gordon.
The chevron markings look very nice and will surely be useful. Hope they can stand up to the force of all that power being put down . The pond looks great too . I suppose patrons (male ones at least) in this area will use it to take a leak until the restroom facilities are replaced .

Re: Track work at FRC
Hi Gordon , the pond looks great i am sure the caiman would be very surprised since they love brown water , but i was wondering how would the spectators get to the wash rooms . Just like what Luke T expressed ,the layout its just a beautiful sight and better more we enjoy driving on it a lot thanks to be part of FRC bye Ramesh

That pond is like looking out my window.
This track was well designed and the scenery is spectacular. Good work with the direction it will help our marshaling
