Goodspeed upcoming event announcement

Post by gordon »

Guys,

Following is US-based Goodspeed circuit's next event announcement:
Are you ready to break out of the Holiday "Warm & Fuzzies" and get back to 1/32 speed? Then bring your slot cars to Goodspeed Thursday evening January 15 for close wheel to wheel competition. There will also be a chance to try out the new cars that Santa brought as well. Classes will be:

Two LIter C13 150 gram magnet limit
Scalextric: Ford Cortina, Caterham, MGB
Fly: Alfa Romeo GTV & GTAm, Porsche 911 street version, BMW E30 M3, Alfa Romeo T2Z
Carrera: BMW 2002 tii
Spirit: BMW 2002 tii, VW GTI Mk 1
Monogram: Ford Cortina
SCX: MGB
MRRC: Porsche 911 (with 18K motor)
Auto Art; Alfa Romeo GTAm

Japanese/Super GT C30 175 gram magnet limit
Scalextric: Nissan Skyline, GT-R, McLaren MP4-12C, Ford GT
Fly: BMW M3 GTR
Ninco: McLaren F1 GTR, Lexus SC 430, Ascari, Honda NSX
Slot it: McLaren F1 GTR (150 gram magnet limit)

Corvette L88 C32 175 gram magnet limit
Any Scalextric late 1960's Corvette L-88

Classes will be run in this order. The Corvette class will be run if time permits.

Track opens at 6 PM. Tech inspection is at 7 PM and racing starts immediately after tech. If this will be your first time at Goodspeed, let me know if you need directions.
What strikes me that I'd like to point out is that they run downforce limits and this allows cars from multiple manufacturers to race in the same class in a competitive manner. I've always held that different manufacturer's cars can be competitive with one another if we are able to equalize the lap times they do based on motor, weight and downforce (assuming that gear ratio and tyres are similar).

I also note that they allow Caterhams to race against Cortinas, MGBs and the like.

Yes Steve and as I mentioned on Thursday, that's where they will be classified at FRC - Historic Saloon.

GG,

That's very true ... and I could testify to that - how you have always upheld, different brand slotcars racing in the same class ...

It seems even more so now than before @ FRC, this is the direction its going (in 2 classes) with the new simple solution regs. - that a car must not be able to magnetically adhere to standard track piece upside down and of course with the other class requirements.

I'm wondering here ~ for as long as this (GoodSpeed 118' TRL Circuit) grand track is - how long they have been around to get to the outstanding levels of racing they're at .. :?:

As we Trini slotcar guys would say - Dem fellas gone clear boy .. :!:
