Hey GG - Me again with this racing (Silicone vs Rubber) tyres suggestion ...

I firmly believe this idea is going to be a Simple Solution for the lap time differences you're looking for with LMP & GT cars.

Also, I have been noticing this Scalextric (c/o HS132 link) https://www.google.tt/url?sa=i&rct=j&q= ... 8869212049 GT car a lot lately and think I will save up enough $$$ in time to buy it, for when you plan on having this neat event.

I don't mean anything negative by writing this but the way things are going atm - it might very well be an FRC's end of year Special Event.

  • LMP-E - Up to 25,000 RPM motors, maximum of 275 gm downforce, tyres free

Gordon and others,

Seeing how much this next special event is unfolding (here) & yet still with not much input from others ... I believe you (GG) and other racers on this special event racing day will be more than happy with the latest tyre condition requirements for the respective GT-E/LMP-E classes.

Just for the record - I have already saved up enough $$$ for guess what .. :?:

You'll will be seeing a bit of testing next race day (Thursday) with my new Scalextric C3381 - Chevrolet Corvette C6R No. 17 car for the GT-E class ;)

Looking forward to seeing that Corvette Luke. I think that it is always interesting when new (or new to FRC) cars make their appearance.

FYI Guys ...

Got some testing done (car set-up below) with my new Scalextric C3381 - Chevrolet Corvette C6R No. 17 car for the upcoming GT-E class ...

The Best Lap Time 7.985 seconds (done by Gordon)

GT-E

Body: Stock
Chassis: Stock
Mini Ground Clearance: 1.0 mm.
Interior: Stock
Digital Chip: DPR Saloon
Motor: Stock - 18K rpm
Gearing: Stock - SW 11/36
Motor Pod: N/A
Magnets: Maxi/MM: 200 gms - Stock Bar 1.5mm/120 gms
Wheels: Stock
Axles: Stock
Tyres: Stock OTB - Rubber (Thermoplastic) Compound. This is Scalextric's NEW type of stock rubber tyres.
Guide Flag: Stock

Having info like this - could still help with the best formula where the fastest LMP-E cars average 1.0 sec quicker lap times than the fastest GT-E cars.
  • The LS cars with 25K RPM motors and bar magnet (downforce ?) ........ Silicone tyres - BLT 5.9 sec.
The G5 car with 21.5K RPM motor and the 200 gm downforce ............ Silicone tyres - BLT 5.8 sec.

The Chev C6R car with 18K RPM motor and 120 gm downforce ........... Rubber tyres - BLT 7.9 sec.
Plus, remembering how my Vintage Sports - Ferrari P4 car was doing ...
  • The Ferrari P4 car with 18K RPM motor bar magnet (downforce ?) ....... Silicone tyres - BLT 6.3 sec.
From Race Report No.166 ~ it was more or less with the same set-up but note, with silicone tyres.

I'd really like to look at having this event. Maybe I can set-up an online entry form to see whether we can get the required number of entries.

What I'd like to ask the current racers to do is set up whatever car they have available for either LMP-E or GT-E (or both) and lets see how the times between the the two classes differ. Once we have some data, we can fine-tune the regulations to ensure that we get at least a 1 sec difference between the classes.

Hey GG,

GR8 recommendation & am I correct thinking that you would like to host this endurance race for (or by) FRC's 200th. "milestone" event .. :?:

GG,

I know we all discussed a lot with requirements here ~ to reach where this endurance event proposal is today ...

A suggestion setting up both type cars for a Simple Solution

Other than the 2 types of motor (21 & 25K rpm) ratings ...

I would like to recommend and instead of:
  • • 2 maximum downforces of 200 & 275 gms
    • 2 kinds of tyre compounds rubber & silicone
How about:
  • Cars must not be able to magnetically adhere to a standard track piece upside down
Cars tyre compound (both classes) - Silicones
I feel this might be an easier way getting that 1 sec difference you would like between the classes.

What do you think :?:
