Hi Guys,
As our landmark 2-hour endurance event draws nearer, O'Brie has played the major part in installing a roll-down tarpaulin to give us shade during the daylight hours and shelter from rain at any time. Here are a few pics I just took during a pretty windy period.

Scalextric GT Challenge cars:
As part of the supporting races, we'll be racing our newest IROC class, Scalextric GT Challenge. In order to create more equality and better drivability between the two Ferraris, two Porsches and two Lambos, I've trued the tyres and balanced the magnets to within 9 gm, lowest to highest (they were 39 gm difference before). I did this by bringing all the cars as close as possible to the one which had the highest downforce. The lowest was 152 gm, the highest 191 gm (without bodies). They are now 187 gm and 196 gm, respectively (with bodies). This should make for some closer driving and less de-slotting. Here are some pics taken after finishing the work:

Porsches
Lambos
All ready to go!

FRC 2-Hours preparations
Re: FRC 2-Hours preparations
Its always very encouraging to see the consideration you have given to this sport, thanks very much for the covering and the magnetic tuning of the cars always a pleasure to race, bye see you on sat . Ramesh
Re: FRC 2-Hours preparations
O'Brie is really a master with those ropes and pulleys. Hopefully his driving and car prep. skills will shine as brightly on Saturday ! Thanks as well Gordon, for balancing the downforce and trueing the tyres on those GT cars. Should even out handling significantly.

That is great! Good work OBrie.
Balancing the cars must have taken some time Gordon. I am sure they are working really well. Good Job.
See you all on Saturday.

Re: FRC 2-Hours preparations
GG,
I find (now) a Red 'livery body' Ferrari with the 6 SGTC mix of cars would have looked better - at least for identifying 6 different colors while racing.
Nonetheless ~ They still looking great even though the Lambo is more of a gold looking color over the yellow Ferrari.
Some great work done with these cars & the tyres looking real neat too but hope with O'Brie & you installing that (perfect looking) roll-down tarpaulin - didnt have anything to do with me telling all about a team called The Perfect Storm

Re: FRC 2-Hours preparations
Watching these neat & bright looking pics again - wondering what is the (space being covered) size of the new roll-down tarpaulin
Re: FRC 2-Hours preparations
16' x 7'
Re: FRC 2-Hours preparations
Well then GG,
Thats really some good ingenuity by O'Brie, for keeping that kind of weight (rolled-up/down) suspended in the air so exact ...
Its too bad he (& son) isnt taking up the challenge, for what was done by him for this racing event.
Thanks for the info,
Luke

Re: FRC 2-Hours preparations
BTW GG - I came across a Red "livery body" F430 Ferrari ...
Can you guess what that means

Re: FRC 2-Hours preparations
Well you'll have to change the colour of the number 1.
