Hello all,
Teams are looking great ..!
Well - as most of you'll may/will know, I have a large collections of slot cars (over a period of 14 years) and this IROC racing idea came about very simple, just a few weeks ago when I was moving around some of my storage containers of cars... All because I was looking for one of my FRC "chipped" digital racing cars - maybe to race that same week as well... While looking, I came across a box (didnt see for a while) with only Scalextric 'high impact' cars. In it, there were Lambos, Porsche 997s and one only F430 "yellow" Ferrari. I took a minute thinking about what I should do with all these cars and having slotcar racing on my mind, the rest was history
The box had 2 each of the Lambos & 997 cars, bought an extra Ferrari car from Arden, to make up the 2 F430s for a total of 6 cars. Suppose this is how the Scalextric GT Challenge idea was born. I gave Gordon a call about this endeavour ~ and we all know how he loves his racing... He sounded a bit confused at first (maybe because of all I was looking to do) about setting up these 6 cars to race at FRC. He did asked if it was to much to do and I told him I have the 6 cars already - I just have to go buy the 6 DPR Saloon Chips from Island Hobbies the next morning.
All in all - it turned out to be a very simple setup of stock "OTB" slot cars with DPR Chips installed. At the time, the cars being race ready was raced (Race Report #161) as an introduction to a FRC's "one-off" racing event. It was such a
buzz doing this personal project that, to help make this an even more interesting and eventful Endurance 2hrs. event for all... There will be a prize giving contest for persons doing the best lap times (not in qualifying thouigh) in this new SGTC race.
I'm glad to have sponsored these prizes for all to partake in this upcoming racing competition...
The Prizes -
Scalextric "Easy Fit" DPR Chips C8515 & C8516 for the
BLT Winners in the A & B groups. Remember - its not in qualifying but the race itself. Its like a competition in a competition...
The 2 SSD DPR chips are a Saloon/$135 type and the other a F1/$170 type. The winner of Group A will have first choice of which type/value chip he would like to claim as his prize
Sorry if I elaborated to much here and thinking now - the only bad thing, if there's a Group C. competition ... There is no prize for the BLT winner in this group
