FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:00 PM this Thursday (3rd April) for our Group B classes: Modified Production - 5 races @ 35 laps, American Muscle - 5 races @ 40 laps. Please bring your cars ready to go. Here's the usual schedule:
- 8:00 PM - Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
- After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
Here are the specific Modified Production and American Muscle class regs (blue text indicates any changes for 2014):
Modified Production (MP)
- Body: Must be based on a non-GT production car and must comply with General item 2. Windows may be tinted so as not to reveal the cockpit.
- Chassis: Free.
- Interior: Free but must comply with General item 3.
- Digital Chip: Scalextric F1 or DPR chip must be used on cars with motors exceeding 25,000 RPM, otherwise any chip may be used.
- Motor: 30,000 RPM or lower, based on manufacturer's specifications.
- Gearing: Free.
- Motor Pod (where applicable): Free.
- Magnets: Free except that all magnets must be positioned ahead of the rear tyres when viewed from the bottom or top of the chassis (see diagram below).
- Wheels: Free.
- Axles: Free.
- Tyres: Free.
- Guide Flag: Free.
- Eligible cars:
To qualify, body must be based on a non-GT car that is constructed principally for retail sale to consumers for their personal use and to transport people on public roads (no commercial or industrial vehicles are eligible), but may be modified by the addition of fender flares/extensions, wings and spoilers. Examples of non-eligible GT cars are Porsche 911/997, any Ferrari or Lamborghini and most cars with "GT" in their names. - American Muscle (AM)
- Body: Must be modeled after traditional “American Muscle”/late '60s and early '70s "Trans-Am" cars, including the Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, Plymouth Barracuda, Dodge Charger, Mercury Cougar, AMC Javelin and Pontiac Firebird. For the purpose of this class, the Chevrolet Corvette is not considered an American muscle car. Body must comply with General item 2. Windows may be tinted so as not to reveal the cockpit.
- Chassis: Free.
- Interior: Free but must comply with General item 3.
- Digital Chip: Free.
- Motor: Free.
- Gearing: Free.
- Motor Pod (where applicable): Free.
- Magnets: Free.
- Wheels: Free.
- Axles: Free.
- Tyres: Free.
