Racing this Thursday 23rd January

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

FRC will be open for practice, testing and racing from 7:00 PM this Thursday (23rd January) for our Group B classes: Modified Production - 5 races @ 35 laps, American Muscle - 5 races @ 40 laps. Please bring your cars ready to go. Here's the usual schedule:
  • 8:00 PM - Qualifying followed by racing. Drivers not ready when called to grid will be replaced by any standby drivers who are ready.
  • After racing - Packing up and liming/old talk (but not too late!).
You can see all the class regulations here and the general racing regulations here.

American Muscle is an open class so you're free to do anything once the car complies with the General regs for all classes. Here are the Mod Prod-specific regs:

Modified Production (MP)
  • Body: Must be based on a non-GT production car and must comply with General item 2. Windows may be tinted so as not to reveal the cockpit.
  • Chassis: Free.
  • Interior: Free but must comply with General item 3.
  • Digital Chip: Scalextric F1 or DPR chip must be used on cars with motors exceeding 25,000 RPM, otherwise any chip may be used.
  • Motor: 30,000 RPM or lower, based on manufacturer's specifications.
  • Gearing: Free.
  • Motor Pod (where applicable): Free.
  • Magnets: Free except that all magnets must be positioned ahead of the rear tyres when viewed from the bottom or top of the chassis (see diagram below).
  • Wheels: Free.
  • Axles: Free.
  • Tyres: Free.
  • Guide Flag: Free.

  • Eligible cars:

To qualify, body must be based on a non-GT car that is constructed principally for retail sale to consumers for their personal use and to transport people on public roads (no commercial or industrial vehicles are eligible), but may be modified by the addition of fender flares/extensions, wings and spoilers. Examples of non-eligible GT cars are Porsche 911/997, any Ferrari or Lamborghini and most cars with "GT" in their names. If in doubt about a particular car's eligibility, please email Gordon at quicklapper@gmail.com.
Don't forget to bring along some refreshments.

Tin top: a term sometimes used to describe classic or contemporary racing saloon cars (check out www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk ).

I can relate to what you're saying Ram. Webers... great sound. Even the building looks like one that Scalextric used to make :)
