RACE REPORT #148 - November 7th 2013
Five drivers took part in our Mini Challenge and Rally classes at our 148th event. The Minis are always particularly challenging to drive and as usual, every driver drove every car, so there were six races in all for the class. As ever, the races were very close and in the end it was difficult to guess the overall class winner. When the computer crunched the numbers, a tie for second place meant that the first four drivers were separated by a scant two points! Talk about close competition.
For the first time we applied the 45º rule for the rally cars and my special jig worked out quite well for checking them, which we did after each car was run. Steve had a worrisome moment when his car almost refused to roll down the ramp after one stage. Everyone watched it move ever so slowly down till it finally reached the bottom. Apparently a wheel had jammed, for it rolled down very quickly on a re-try. In the stages the cars were very close with average lap times ranging between 8.8 sec and 10.2 sec, fastest to slowest.
The results
Congratulations to the winners.

Re: Race Report #148 - Thursday 7th November, 2013
Great night of racing as usual, with some very close finishes in both classes raced. Imagine 2 points separating the top 4 drivers in Mini Challenge ! The Rally class has really come a long way from when we first started, with most drivers being able at times to get below the 50 sec. barrier per stage which was unheard of in the early days.
Congrats to Luke B. on the Rally Class and overall wins.
Thanks as usual to Gordon for hosting and for the race report. Enjoy the US Grand Prix !!

Great racing very competitive, rally for us was a lot of fun first win for LukeB in rally ,this event was dominated by master Steve for a long time so i had to do some extra home work since this class is non magnetic, the car set up is totally different, using weight distribution and traction as your main strengths and not magnets or magnetic downforce motors, we were truly in rally mode, with non magnetic effect motors, Gordon was really pushing his car very well all night and lukeT so smooth, driving on the inside line , i know we were up against the best rally drivers in tnt, always enjoyable for us , thanks to Gordon for making it happen, i love the 45 d gadget , hope to see you guys on thur , I know we will have a lot to talk about and see first hand pics of f1 race bye Ramesh
