Restricted GT class?

Post by gordon »

Guys,

I'm on a roll. Been thinking about all those GT cars we have sitting around and thought that maybe we can create a "Restricted GT" class for them. The restricted part will be the motor and magnets. Here's the list of allowed motors I've been looking at (besides the stock 18,000 RPM ones):

19,500 RPM - 22,400 RPM FOR CARS WITH FC-130 MOTORS:
Image
  • SC008 - Scale Auto Universal - 1/32 "TECH-1" Motor Series Motors - 19,900 RPM
  • SC020 - Scale Auto Universal - 1/32 High Performance - "Ball Bearing" Motor Series - 20,000 RPM
  • NSR3001 - NSR 3001 Shark motor, 22,400 RPM
  • NSR3004 - NSR 3004 Shark motor, 20,000 RPM
  • SIMF06 - Slot It SIMF06 V12/3 motor, 21,500 RPM. Endbell drive sidewinder
  • SIMN06 - Slot It SIMN06 V12/3 motor, 21,500 RPM. Can-drive inline
  • SIMS06 - Slot It SIMS06 V12/3 motor, 21,500 RPM. Endbell drive inline
  • SIMX06 - Slot It SIMX06 V12/3 motor, 21,500 RPM. No pinion
  • SIMX12 - Slot It SIMX12 V12/3 motor, 19,500 RPM. No pinion

19,700 RPM - 21,000 RPM FOR CARS WITH FK-180 MOTORS:
Image
  • 80611 - Ninco 80611 NC6 FK180 motor, 19,700 RPM
  • NSR3017 - NSR 3017 King Motor Evo, 21,000 RPM
  • SC011 - Scale Auto SC011 "TECH-1" Motor Series Motor - 20,000 RPM
  • SC021 - Scale Auto SC021 "Ball Bearing" Motor Series Motor - 20,000 RPM
  • SIMN08C - Slot It SIMN08C Boxer 2 motor, closed can FK180 motor, 20,000 RPM
  • SIMN08H - Slot It SIMN08H Boxer 2 motor, open can FK180 motor, 21,000 RPM
  • 2201 - Sloting Plus 2201 Speed 1 FK180 motor, 21,000RPM

20,500 RPM - 22,000 RPM FOR CARS WITH FLAT 6 MOTORS:
Image
  • SIMN09H - Slot It SIMN09H Flat 6 motor, 20,500rpm
  • SIMN11H - Slot It SIMN11H Flat 6R motor, 22,000 RPM
  • SIMN11H-1 - Slot It SIMN11H-1 Flat 6R motor, 22,000 RPM

In other words, the class will be restricted to motors under 23,000 RPM, but motor must be listed in the class regulations.

A single standard magnet of the type used in the stock car (bar, button, Slot. It) will be allowed, placed in any of the standard magnet positions (no modifying of chassis for magnet placement allowed).

What say you?

What about Scale Auto 25K ?

Mixing Boxers with SP motors is like F1 and Dallaras

Alex,

We don't want another GT class like the existing one. The motor restriction is for sub-23,000 RPM motors as listed. I did think about the Boxers issue. We need to see how they compare with the other motors at these "lower" RPMs.

Would you be interested in running a class like this? What car(s) do you have available (or build-able)?

Here are some cars I have which can be set-up for the class:

Alex,

From the Restricted GT class regulations:

4. Any braid, wheels, tyres and gears may be used.

On another topic, how can we get the other FRC drivers to read this forum? Any ideas?

BTW, the class IS official now and, as mentioned elsewhere on the forum, will be raced at our next event.
