Need feedback on next endurance event

Post by gordon »

Hi Guys,

After our very enjoyable and successful endurance event last December (read the full race report here), the general consensus was that we should do one every six months. Its coming up on the six month mark and with that in mind, I've got two questions to put to everyone:
  1. What date should we aim for?
  2. What classes should we race?
Bear in mind that we want to cook something and make it a racing as well as social activity. Also, think of upcoming holidays which may be suitable. Of course a Saturday is always good too.

For those of you unfamiliar with these events, each class requires two drivers per car and races are 30 minutes long. Detailed regulations are listed here. Last year we ran two races each for GT and LMP, typical real-world endurance classes. We also have potential classes in American Muscle, F1, Historic Saloon (30 minutes? Yikes!) and Slot.It Challenge. We can stick to two classes (two races per class) or go to four classes (one race per class).

Give some feedback here.

I didn't race but was present at last endurance event. Most entertaining to observe ! I would imagine even more to race.

Guys,

After mulling it around in my mind a bit since last night's race event, I've decided what classes will be run at FRC's next endurance race event. First a little background.

For those who were present last night, one of the most annoying things about the racing was the lack of track power whenever six cars were running and more so when cars were in close proximity to others. We also had situations where cars would not register on the power base, cars changed ID after a collision and cars would not change lanes. Most (if not all) of this was directly related to high-revving/torque motors coupled with tons of magnetism. Doing 40 laps of this was painful (approximately 4 minutes), so imagine 30 minutes.

So, our next endurance event will feature the following two classes:
  • Restricted GT
  • Slot.It Challenge
What is Restricted GT, you ask? Well, if you read this post, you'd have an idea. In order to have some cars ready for the class in time for the endurance event, our next event will be for three classes: Historic Saloon, Slot.It Challenge and Restricted GT. If we are pressed for time, we'll run three races per class instead of the usual five.

I'll post the exact regulations for the Restricted GT class in the Classes post of the Rules and Regulations area in the next few days, however they are going to be basically as laid out in the original Restricted GT post referred to above.
