Guys,
At the last race meeting I was having a discussion with GG pertaining to the high and low downforce topic.
From our discussion I gathered that he would like to preserve the stock to slightly modified classes. His concern was with the performace of the recent scalexric cars ! Recently scalextric have changed some of their configurations ie the Ford Gt40 amongst others. Having changed the configuration of the Gt40 now makes it far superior in vintage class. He likes the performance, however he is concerned that everyone will have to go to Gt40's to be competitive. There are already 4 racers running Gt 40's and he believes the class will turn out to be a Gt40 class instead of the vintage class.
He want to mantain the vintage class.
He want the Gt 40 in the class but does not want an IROC class.
Suggestions are open to everyone for their input.
Suggestions
1. Revert the Gt40 to the original magnet configuration.
2. Allow all cars to have the same downforce. This means magnet marshal.
Please share your comments.
Thanks
Arden

Re: Vintage
Hey Arden - aka foreigner
Here's a next suggestion (this may sound like a joke) because back in the 50's cars didnt have any traction control systems...
Vintage Sport - No downforce on cars, a magnetless race...

Re: Vintage
Hi Arden,
as I said in another post, I wouldn't now want to change the rules as guys have purchased cars , equipment etc. to set up cars for the rules as written, as much as the rules for Vintage Sport don't favour any of the cars that I have. Having said that however, how I would have liked this class to be would have been for all vintage sports cars to be run as standard. As standard, if we compare let's say a Slot.it GT40 with a Scalextric GT40, the Slot.it, with its 21.5 k motor would certainly be faster in a straight line. The Scaley however, with its very high level of magnetic downforce would handle much better. The overall lap times could be very similar however. What obtains now however, is that one could put the Slot.it motor in the Scaley car (technically a modification) and have the best of both worlds.
To go back to your question, I would say leave things as they are, but if any change could be made to this class, my feeling is that cars should be standard as supplied by the manufacturer (tyre truing, weight addition allowed).

Re: Vintage
Luke,
That would be rally vintage!
Steve, I find the stock motor seems quite interesting and this will surely even up the field. Good suggestion.
Lets hear some more guys.

Hello Arden,
How you pushing aside your buddy so easy with "rally" vintage..! Like you forgetting how long I'm @ FRC
Two things:
1. I think the stock FC130/SP 18K rpm motors will not keep up with the stock FF18K rpm motors...
2. I dont think GG will tell you but i will... Like you forget - topics like this should be posted in the paddock section

Re: Vintage
Hey Arden - You were right (with phone conversation) about this topic being posted under the Racing Section.
Maybe it was just me taking it for/as Ole talk
Sorry about that second comment okay... Also thinking over Steve's - Stock cars/motors could even up the field and wont hurt to give it a try.
All in all - This would be like how the HS class runs...
