RACE REPORT #130 - JUNE 13TH 2013
Young Jonathan joined five other FRC drivers for six rounds of Ferrari Team Challenge racing and three 5-lap Rally stages. We qualified the Ferraris one at a time with drivers making their choice of car, after which the three teams lined up to do battle on the track. Racing was prety much dominated by team Giallo (Yellow) but there were still four different race winners in the six races.
Several new cars appeared for the rally stages, including Ramesh's Ferrari 308 GTB, Luke B.'s Renault Megane, my Alpine A310 and Steve's very well-prepared and quick Subaru Impreza. We saw the four fastest stage times ever done at FRC at this one even.
The results
Congratulations to the winners.
Next event's classes: Mini Challenge - 3 races @ 30 laps, Restricted GT - 3 races @ 30 laps, Slot.It Challenge - 3 races @ 30 laps. Don't forget to see the updated fastest times for the FRC classes to know what the benchmarks are for your cars, the updated class average qualifying times and the updated 2013 Class Points Standings..
See you on the circuit...

Race Report #130 - Thursday 13th June, 2013
Re: Race Report #130 - Thursday 13th June, 2013
Another enjoyable night of racing at FRC ! Thanks Gordon and thanks also for getting the race report out so quickly. Jonathan was thrilled to actually race with the 'big boys' but told me afterwards that he thought he could have done better . I really admire his spirit. I think Ramesh's idea re having all the teams drive all the cars in Ferrari Team Challenge certainly has merit. Nice to see all 6 drivers present show up with cars for the Rally class.
Look forward to the next event when hopefully Boo can put in an appearance.

Fellas,
Here are some suggestions of mines, with Ramesh's idea having all the teams drive all the cars in the FTC event.
For the simple reason, that one or two drivers dont get the best car/s for this whole event.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
FRC FTC COMPETITION REGULATIONS
General - Same.
Car/Team Selection - The 6 persons (Gordon included) to arrive at FRC first, rolls the dice to select a 2 man team. More than 6 persons - rolls the dice as well but 6+ what they roll... to know what team they are on, as a third driver.
Teams (named A,B & C) will be selected based on the following, using the number rolled on the dice.
A Team - 1st and 4th (cars 1 and 2)
B Team - 2nd and 5th (cars 3 and 4)
C Team - 3rd and 6th (cars 5 and 6)
If we have more than 6 drivers, the extras will be teamed like this:
7 drivers: 7 joins 3rd-6th - Automatically...
8 drivers: 7 joins 2nd-5th, 8 joins 3rd-6th - Roll of the dice but 6+ what they rolled...
9 drivers: 7 joins 1st-4th, 8 joins 2nd-5th, 9 joins 3rd-6th - Roll of the dice but 6+ what they rolled...
Qualifying - The three teams then races the yellow, blue & red cars respectively for a pole position & whoes who next on the racing grid.
Chassis Rotation (could be) Driver Team Rotation - Drivers of the (A Team) Yellow cars goes to Blue & then Red, then back to Yellow to get on with teams racing all cars.
Grid Positions - Based on first race (A team) drivers with the Yellow cars, goes on to race the Blue cars in their finishing positions and so on with Reds cars...
Driver Stations - Same.
Third Driver Substitutions - Same, more or less.
Under-subscribed Grid - Same.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Chassis Rotation can still be done (ever so often) before event.
What do you all think?
Luke

Hi Luke,
I like your idea except for the team selection bit. I think throwing dice to select teams is okay with up to 6 drivers present but, if there are more than six and any have to sit out the first race, I think that the selection of those to race and those to sit out should be based on merit and hence the qualifying. Maybe what we could have is qualifying using a single car .

First things first - Happy Father's Day to those @ FRC
Steve, lets not forget this is Ramesh idea and my response to it on the forum... Thanks for yours but if you look it over, nobody (with more than 6) is really sitting out the racing as you may think...
All 3rd. team drivers - whether or not "time" qualifying is done, will just have to wait their turn to race.
Rolling of the dice in order of persons arriving @ FRC will be a faster process selecting 3 teams with a third driver.
Capeesh
See yuh later Mr. 7 class champ
Its a great looking Sunday morning also - I'm going to get ready to give the Lord - Praise & Worship

What happen Steve..?
No feed back (with things like this) as usual.
Just like how yuh drive - like to start and stop & then cry out "drive-thru, drive-thru!"

Re: Race Report #130 - Thursday 13th June, 2013
Hi Luke,
I'm now seeing this. I'm still not in favour of the roll of a die to determine the teams if there are more than 6 drivers present. With 6 people it's fine-no one gets left out. I can also agree to it if there is a set qualifying time and only 6 drivers are present at the time and others arrive after. In this case, the latecomers will have to sit out the first race as a consequence of their latecoming. What you are proposing however could have somebody showing up at 7:30 and being let out of the first race becaues 6 others arrived at 7:15 just to ensure their spot in the race.
I think that once everyone is on time for the scheduled qualifying, all present should have an equal shot at competing and a qualifying time is a fair method of accomplishing this.
